    Garyq:

    Simple!

    Downside:
    1. Weak aircon - replace it with a stronger compressor.(not all Vitaras have weak aircons)
    2. Prone to warp door sidings - I just have to live with it but am planning to have it checked by Kelseat.
    3. OEM suspension bouncy - suspension upgrade and installation of rubber coil spacers.
    4. Expensive spare parts - damn right! next to impossible
    5. Slow acceleration if matic - mine is manual so no prblem at all
    6. Insufficient leg room space at rear. - i just have to select my passengers at the back like; mahal and dagul
    7. Low amp alternator rating- replaced it with 90amp alternator

    Viola!!! Ayos na problema!

I'll go with the vitara if i'll use it mainly sa off road, but for general use mas ok i think yun Terrano because of its interior size.

Ewan ko lang guys ha. The reason were comparing the Vit with the Terrano is simply because of the price point.

Offroading, may inherent advantage ang Vitara simply because of the SWB.

The gas engine of the Terrano is indeed a gas guzzler (4-5km/L) pero it's reasonably powerful na rin (the one we had was equipped with MT).

    something to consider.

    tama si PK sa pricing.

i think that i terms of pricing, only the gas terrano is comparable to the Vitara. they range from 280 to 320 thousand pesos.

ang diesel terrano, medyo mataas ang resale value, about 380 and above in my research.

Which is more practical to own of the two a 1996 Vitara or a 1996 Terrano? Its not going to be use for trails, modified or any hardcore offroading, just normal everyday driving in the city and long drives every weekend to Batangas.

Currently Im torn between the two because of the following
    Pros
    1. Vitara is cheaper for the same year model (by about 100t)
    2. Vitara has a little bit more power than the terrano(??)
    3. Terrano is diesel
    4. Terrano has bigger cabin and storage
    Cons
    1. Vitara is gas (and I hear has 7km/lit mileage on the city)
    2. Terrano is underpowered (although I do not know how underpowered it is)

If I were to make that choice, I'd go Vitara

    we had both dati.

    terrano ako hands down =)

hindi mo naman ipang racing ang terrano eh.and vitara is a slowpoke lalo na yung automatic.

pwedeng pwede na sa city driving ang both...very good din naman sa semi-off road.

    terrano talaga...heheheh

If you can get a Local, Diesel, and good condition Terrano... its the best. Other than that, Vitara wins.

BTW - its hard to find a good condition, Local, Diesel Terrano.... most that I have seen are "laspag"... most private owners have the Gas Version...

I also use to own a Vitara, still a good choice, very reliable for me... will be easier to find in good conditon than a diesel terrano.

    just my 2 cents

on the contrary I have already checked 2 units of diesel that is overall in good shape. well the engine of course needs some calibration, shocks need to be replaced, a few scratches which I consider normal work to be done on purchase of a second hand vehicle.

The gas version seem to be cheaper but its not among my choices because of its fuel mileage.

Pareho lang ba power ng vit and terrano? I know sa acceleration lang naman yung terrano mabagal.

The Vitara makes 95 horsepower and is lighter than the Terrano. The Terrano diesel has 72bhp, the gas version has 100bhp (same as Pajero GEN II diesel).

The Vitara M/T feels very peppy in city driving. Just like driving a car. When I get out of the Vitara and into my Pajero, I always feel that my Pajero engine is broken. hehehe.

On the highway, the Vitara is screaming its guts out at 120kph. Probably short gearing, but it can still go faster if you can stand the noise.

If you can bear the lack of power of the Terrano, then its an ok choice. The Vitara is better suited as a personal vehicle.

what is in a JLX model compared to the other models?

Someone posted about mga "defects" ng vitara a few pages back, how much will it cost to fix those?

JLX is the only model for 1996. The only options on a Vitara back then were the color and type of transmission.

Vitara Plus models came later wearing flared fenders, Rota Ranger alloys, rear towbar, European rear bumper (with dummy foglamps), multimeter.

I'm not sure what year the revised dashboard came out.

wow 72 hp lang pala ang terrano? is the TD27 also the engine found on the 4x4 pathfinder series pick-up? how is then engine on the pathfinder?
