Suzuki Vitara JLX (1994 and 2004)

Lots of aftermarket parts for making your Vitara look tough and rough(Calmini.com & Rocky-road.com). There are parts available locally and can be purchased everywhere (Links banawe, Fronte banawe, Pilhino, etc)

    Upside:

    1. High ground clearance
    2. Compact and easy to park
    3. Strong engine (power to weight ratio)
    4. Auto Hubs Fr(4L, 4L)
    5. Sturdy underchassis/suspension
    6. Approach and departure angles(RTI)- OK
    7. Aftermarket parts availability
    8. Full-frame chassis with manual transfercase
    9. Compubox located high(for flood fording)

    Downside:
    1. Weak aircon
    2. Prone to warp door sidings
    3. OEM suspension - bouncy
    4. Expensive spare parts
    5. Slow acceleration if matic
    6. Insufficient leg room space at rear.
    7. Low amp alternator rating

Fuel economy - Depends on the driver & frequency of maintenance. Mine is around 7 to 9km/Lt City & 11 to 13km/lt Highways.

    * Most common defect of Vitara 96 and below are:
(check the following if you plan to buy one)

    1. Fuel pump
    2. Power windows/switches
    3. Power steering gearbox
    4. Power steering pump
    5. AC Compressor
    6. Alternator
    7. Door sidings
    8. Radiator
    9. Water pump

*Note: The post is not in direct in comparison with Terrano. I'm just posting the advantages and disadvantages of the vehicle per se over other 4wd vehicles in the market.

We had a Terrano before and the gas engine is a gas guzzler. The diesel engine is pathetic. You need to install a Turbo in it to have some push. The Terrano though has good looks and styling plus a lot of leg space and compartment.

Just a couple of questions, what do you mean by free 4WD hubs? Front hubs? Di ba auto front wheel hubs yan? Unless you're talking about Suzuki Samurai which has manual hubs. Terrano also offers the same transfer case function, 2H-4H-N-4L.

Di ba mas matibay ng rear leaf spring suspension setup kesa sa OE bouncy coils comparing both on solid diff setups. And also front torsion bars on wishbones can deliver more comfort than macpherson strut type of Vitaras.

If you want to go the extreme route, the Vitara is the better choice. If you want to go to the edge of the world, the Samurai will do it.

eto na ba talaga ang pinapipilian mo?

well i pretty sure you could get a Landcruiser 40 series with this kind of cash,

    ECG's 40 is under 400K
its pretty mean with its 33's, all the knobs, switchses are working with AC pa, reverse shackles , Mechanical Winch

as for the ride you spend pa to convert the leaf into coil springs

    Ungas,

What mikaztro meant siguro was auto hubs for the front as what you mentioned. Also just a clarification, hindi MacPherson ang front IFS ng Vitara. The front struts and coil springs are located separately from each other, the former being more lateral.

Oh ok, I stand corrected front strut IFS for Vitara. But still, front torsion bar springs with wishbone arms offer more comfort. :D

Vitara or Terrano? [Merged]
