Well in this case, hanap nalang kayo ng car you can BORROW (maybe from a friend) everytime umuwi kayo. Then offer to pay gas + rental (presyong kaibigan? hehe)
When your kids get to driving age, saka na kayo bumili ng brand new car at huwag ipagamit sa kamag anak. (Madali lang, sabihin lang na laging gumi-gimmick. I'm sure your kids won't mind playing along with that anyway).
It really makes little sense to me to buy a car - any car - at this point.
1x / year mo lang gagamitin; and the rest of the time any vehicle will be (ab)used by the in-laws. Next thing you know, binangga na nila yan. Tapos sasabihin nila wala silang pambayad sa repair, o ipapagawa sa tabi tabing talyer lang. People are reckless enough driving with their car. Paano pa kung hindi nila kotse?

Bago yun ah, based on my personal experience, napakalaki ang difference between theoretical knowledge and hands-on driving. Alam nga niya siguro how to operate all the controls in a car, hindi naman alam yung paano makisingit sa mga jeepney driver o kaya paano magpark ng maayos... Naku bro, hindi pwedeng mag-iwan ng kotse sa ganong klaseng tao!
