Halos pareho lang iyan. We have circa kopong-kopong cars here na nagsusurvive naman ang a/t. I'm positive na for the last 10 years wala kaming work na ginawa sa mga transmission (other than replace seals and ATF). Basta alagaan mo lang.

    Sir OTEP,

pero kung 2nd hand yun na unsure kung paano talaga ginamit at may part na bumigay (like torque converter para sa a/t)... di po ba mas mahal in the long-run ung gastos sa parts?

Plus, fuel mileage rin would not be negligible in between the two transmissions as the a/t version is still non-CVT.

Sir, wala kaming brand new na sasakyan dito. Masyado mahal brand new.

Yung A/T's namin '65, '81, at '85 model na MB. Wala naman problema yung tatlo aside from the ocassional leak every few years or so.

Ah... pero sa MB po yun. Paano po kung Astra?

You could really doubt that a brand new owner of an MB could not afford to maintain his vehicle, pero paano po ung mga may-ari ng mga Astra?

The Astra is relatively new.

Ang sa akin lang, if the tranny checks out ok initially, it probably still has lots of life in it. Basta tuloy lang ang maintenance.

Gastos sa parts will depend on a lot of factors. Consider na madaming Mercedes Benz (at Mercedes Benz shops) sa Pilipinas. Halos lahat ng cost effective 'remedyo' alam nila. Ewan ko lang sa Opel.

    Optra vs. Astra?

I kind of remember this comparo c/o my friend from about 2 years ago. His Optra sedan was just a few months old when an Astra sedan was available at the dealership, with trade in options. He was seriously considering it. Mas solid nga naman yung Astra vs the Optra, but it's heavier and more cramped, too. Fuel consumption, which is the Optra's weak point, is, I would think due to the weight, the Astra's weak point, too.

If I were to choose between the current Optra wagon and a similar gen Astra wagon, I would go with the Optra. IMO, I'm going for the wagon because of space, which is something the Optra has an advantage over the Astra.
