November 8th, 2008 08:51 AM #161Yup, agree ako kay Myfortuner. To each his own ika nga, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Siguro it is not the intention of someone who started this thread to bash each other's SUV, but only to engage in lively, intelligent co-mingling of ideas about the vehicles we owned, right bro? Peace on earth dude, malapit na ang pasko.

Makisingit lang...
From my viewpoint, the design of the MS and Fort are good interpretations of the pick-up trucks they're derived from, strada and hi-lux. I would say the same thing for the everest (meron ako).
The MS is exciting because it's still new and, obviously, no bad issues have come out yet. If the 2009 Fort have addressed the old issues, then it's good for the buyers.
Between the two, a more practical buy for me, if I'm going to purchase now, would be the Fort, mainly due to the corrective measures they've done (advantage of hindsight). If I'm going to buy the MS, I might have to wait for a year or two, or even a gen 1.5, because improvements may have already been done. This is so true also for the gen2 everest. There's practically no bad issues, except for the design, which may not look good for others, but very beautiful for mine eyes.

November 8th, 2008 01:44 PM #164I understand some tsikot forumers. Of course, they want to share there views most specially, alot of car manufacturers are just catching up ( in terms of new product releases, facelift and all new design) and, honestly with the choices available today, as compared to the market in 2005. Wow, tremendously, you will need a second opinion or an experts advise. One person is not confined anymore in just one brand. Infact most have been at par with it's competition.
Being a new vehicle buyer or, simply just a happy owner of the above mentioned suv's. Sometimes, we only want to hear good things and reviews. However, there are some tsikot forumers, that will malign and say something based on there acquired info from a 3rd party person which, I believe is foul.
As a wise reader, buyer or owner; wag muna maniwala sa mga kwentong barbero o kutsero at baka magsisi ka sa bandang huli at hindi mo nabili ang gusto mong sasakyan dahil sa maling akala. Try checking these vehicles and better yet get a "REAL TEST DRIVE".
Keep in mind, You don't want your hard earned money go to waste ( considering its a close 1.6 to 1.7 million peso mark, right?).
We all want the best machine out there but, then again, you'd only know when its TRULY proven and tested. Popular SUV brands are made because of popular choices and demands.
In the mid size suv, no doubt it has been a 3 yrs., undisputed Toyota's Fortuner territory in the market with almost 20,000 units sold ( this excludes new 2009 fort facelift units, this should add up more to the figures) . Undeniably, this is just a clear sign of Fort's abundance and dominance on every streets. With all of the new suv releases, one thing is truly positive. Brand competition is getting much, much better.
I know this is becoming a lengthy discussion but, this is how we as happy proud SUV owners, should help each other on better improving our ride.

November 8th, 2008 03:03 PM #167may nakapansin din pala..better if you compare it should be a ride released on same or current year para walang bias. right?
OT ulit..dagdag ko lang...
Another observation, for those people who would say "Ay, ang dami ng naka Fort at common na sya sa street. Dun ako sa relatively new at konti pa ang meron" Think again, because 3 yrs ago, this was also the thinking when Fort was 1st released but, look at the figures now.
When you make a choice and, you go for popular choice/s, sigurado madami at lalong dadami kayong magkakaroon. Not unless, ayaw mong bumenta yung car brand/ model na napili mo at talagang ikaw lang ang nag-iisang bumili( if that happens, that is something scary to find out..), o di kaya vintage at tipong collectors item or, nasa 5-10 million peso mark na yang oto. Then, that one lucky and super rich person has all the bragging rights to do so.

Errr.... just to play devil's advocate, gaano kalaki ba difference ng BODY ng gen 1 Fort sa gen 1.5 Fort?
To my eyes kasi, wala naman malaking difference sa exterior body eh... kaya nga di ba FACELIFTED lang ang tawag sa gen 1.5 Fort? So for comparison of exteriors, I think di naman unfair yung pinost na pictures.

November 8th, 2008 04:41 PM #169To answer this:
Yes it is the same body but, what do you normal see when doing comparo? Sympre kasama ang aesthetics, right? Hmm, Don't tell me that you don't consider this...? Otherwise, I will take one step backward and rethink my insights.
The 1st picture attachment of both MS and Fort gen 1.5 are made to be compared. Kinuhanan sympre ang harap at likod ng parehong 2009 MS and gen 1.5 Fort. Changes of the 2009 new Fort are evidently are on these angles ( front Projector-Type Halogen lights, bulging tail lights, bigger tire/wheels 265/65 R17 7.5JJ Alloy.) With these mentioned, sympre this will have significant impact to the person looking at it. Moreover, what senses do function most?, it is this eyes right? This is purely visual.
Thus, affects the over all view of what is being compared. Just making a point though. Peace.

An insightful column from Mr. Bean. I sometimes forget that this guy has a master's in Electrical...
