November 8th, 2006 03:32 PM #135Hi! I'm new here. Need help on deciding which budget car to buy. (1st car!)
I'm on a very tight budget but since I'm gonna spend narin naman my lifelong savings, I wana make it worth my while...
So I need your help. I can't decide between Jazz 1.3 AT or Getz 1.4 AT. Based on your posts, parang panay MT ung sinasabi niyo. What about the automatic?
I don't know about the makina ha... but my prob with Jazz is it's 100K more expensive than Getz. My prob with Getz is it's a Hyundai - baka pangit resale value, and it's not that pretty outside, parang black lang yung magandang color dun e.
I test drove a Picanto and nanginginig sya and it's such a sad car... parang super bare, talagang something to bring you from point A to point B. Swift is too expensive. Vios is just UGLY. I'll only drive it if it's given to me for FREE. City is so-so but i'd rather have a hatch.

Jazz na lang, may money ka, wag kang manghinayang sa 100k premium. you'd definitely make use of it once u decide to resell your car.. plus, a honda is still a honda.. bat ayaw mo ng city? mas gusto ko yun actually.. mas mura pa and mas gs2 ko interior nya..
getz jazz parehong tipid sa gasolina. :-)
i personally dont like the getz design, wala kasing dating for me.. well im not all impressed with jazz's design either. lols.\
nanginginig ang pica? an owner here said he dint have problems reaching 150.. ewan ko lng kung totoo..
maganda po tlga ang swift.. :-) yan ang pinakamagandang hatch sa pilipinas imo... (bmw 1 series aside LOL)

Well, if resale value is important to you, Jazz 1.3. But then again, Hondas have high resale values because they often cost more than similar vehicles. This means vehicles with similar engines and transmissions... accessories don't count. If a Nissan and a Honda both have 1.6 liter engines and you pay 800k for both of them, and the Nissan has more safety features and toys, those features won't add to its resale value, which will invariably fall close to the resale value of the base Nissan 1.6.
In other words, only the cost of the bare car affects resale value... when you buy a car with lots of features, you're paying up-front at a loss for that extra stuff.
But definitely, if you want an automatic, the 1.3 will save you more fuel with a smaller penalty in driveability than the Kia's 1.4 AT... though the 1.3 CVT is still kinda slow and hard to overtake in.
It's all up to you.
There are worries about belt lifetime in the CVT, but so far, no word of failures, so it's not a problem (fingers crossed).
In the end, the Jazz 1.3 CVT is a much better car than the Getz 1.4 AT, but it's up to you whether you want to spend the extra money. The Getz isn't a bad car, and, in my opinion, is worth what you pay for it. There's a reason that the Getz/Picanto tandem has garnered awards and citations worldwide... it's because they're cheap, but not of cheap quality...
except the plastics, but almost every manufacturer nowadays has sh*tty plastic in one car or another.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

the top-tier (V-spec) City and Jazz certainly have much nicer (black-out) interiors than the lower models.. but they cost more than a Mazda3!
although arguably you get two airbags and ABS for that.. not such a bad deal.

November 9th, 2006 11:11 AM #140Thanks!
I went to Hyundai Edsa yday and checked out the car. (Sidenote: way better sales service in edsa than in q. ave.) The car is small nga. The Jazz is way roomier.
If the Getz is 1.4 and Jazz is 1.3, does it mean that Getz is more powerful?
Last question. What if I buy a brand new but old model of Jazz so I can get it cheaper. Is this a good idea? Pahanap daw sa Honda minsan meron silang ganon.
