Why not the Ecosport? It is like a raised Fiesta thus providing higher ground clearance. If the Ecosport is still small for you, you can choose from the ASX, XV, Sportage, or Tucson as they are priced about the same as the HRV. With a few thousand more, you're now looking at the Forester, CX5, X-Trail, CRV, Escape, or RAV4.

Yes, the Innova lacks styling and fares low in aesthetics but it does make it up much better in its usefulness. Other brands are playing catch-up but Toyota clamped down on the MPV category with the Innova.

ASX - Purely subjective, but I don't dig the exterior and interior design. Also, bad experience w/ our Montero a couple of years back.
Sportage - We actually went to a dealer last week to take a look at the CRDi variant, but my wife didn't like it.
Tucson (new gen) - This was actually my first choice but after learning that the price would be what it is, I crossed it off our list.
