As a daily driver and the odd off-road trip (once every few months), which one would you choose and why?

Tough call: Ford Everest
Both the Ford Everest and the Chevrolet Trailblazer have an 800-mm wading depth -- the best in the segment, I believe.
I'm not sure what you mean by "odd off-road trip." If it's really not that off-road, I would get the Ambiente, which is a 4x2. I have this odd fascination for base models
And oh, I would have the stock tires replaced with bigger ones.
cons uli, headroom is not good,
everest
pros: cheap power, space, specs better than comparable priced ppvs
cons: spoiled from driving a nimble cuv/suv, driving a everest feels like driving a tank, the hood is too big for my taste..if you like riding big...this one is for you

Malayo yung drive kahit Forester vs Fortuner. Try throwing a Fortuner in a corner, puro body roll at understeer lang makukuha mo. Then when you brake hard, the nose dive from the Fortuner is much more pronounced. Pag flat yung daan, minor imperfections are absorbed by the Forester but sa Fortuner kahit flat may tagtag pa rin.
This applies not just to the Fort but to all PPVs. Lahat sila panget handling compared sa Forester. Montero na pinakamaganda handling pero malayo pa rin sa Forester.

I could remember driving my old Exped in Illinois and it was a hulk to drive on corners. You would even need to be careful when changing lanes driving 70 mph on the interstate. You can feel the wind blasting its tall structure.
The Forester can take corners just like a big car. Not as flat to ground like an Accord but Subaru's AWD system keeps the Forester planted on the ground. Even with pouring rain and a wet road, you can push the Forester with confidence.
driven both the ranger and eve...hood is too big for me...parang tumitingala ako...sa fort sa showroom palang...

Thanks for the various inputs.
The need is just for four seats and capable on fire roads (dirt roads) every couple of months or so. No hardcore off-road stuff.
Otherwise, it's city driving for the most part. Not concerned too much on wading depth or ground clearance.
As for the Forester, a little Singaporean bird told me it won't arrive until after Jan. 1, 2018. Too late for me.
^^^The current generation Forester is more than enough for your needs. Despite the platform's age, it is still one of the best crossovers in the market. It offers a good balance of handling, performance, space, and utility. Why wait for 2018 when you can buy one now? The new Forester platform might be due for release locally around 2019.
I agree. I also drive the latest Forester model. The only thing I don't like is the black interior as it's very difficult to clean.
Fuel consumption may be a concern, too. Check the FC stats of other Forester owners out.
I'd only get an XV if its a daily driver, I am single, and wouldn't have the need to load stuff.

Not a fan of in-house financing, but Ford has this zero DP for the base model Everest... cool![]()
Im single and I still prefer the Everest. diesel power and cost. hehehe

Thanks sa input guys. Stopped driving the fozzie hard since my son was born heheh. I drive like a very old man these days.. always cruising.
Not confident with how the sh forester nose dives under hard braking... Kung mas malala un mga PPV, school bus lang magiging function niya, na may added ground clearance kumpara sa sedan, and the go anywhere feature.. kahit san mo ibagsak un pangilalim wala masisira hahah.
