If buying now, I would say go for the Mazda6. If you can wait next year, go for the new Accord with turbo engines.
Buying now? Or can wait until next year? I've always preferred the Accord over the Camry, especially if the car is going to be owner driven. The current Accord is also quite good looking, personally. There's nothing new or special about the engine though, which is just an improved version of the one in our 12 year old Accord. While the engine is very reliable, hardly skipping a beat in our 104tkms old unit, IMHO for the same amount of money, turbo diesels are much more enjoyable. Perhaps you can consider the Mazda 6 Skyactiv D.

If opting for a diesel car, you may want to consider a VW Jetta or Golf GTS wagon. These Euro diesel compacts are bigger and heavier than its Asian counterparts, more like the size of midsize cars circa 2005-2008. The 2017 Jetta 2.0L TDI is priced from 1.1M to 1.3M, depending on the model. The 2017 Golf GTS wagon is priced between 1.3M to 1.4M.
Ah... Understood. The Wildtrak holds its resale value pretty well, so it can be a good interim vehicle.
I've heard many good things about the Altima overseas. But despite being available locally for quite some time, I don't recall ever seeing any on Philippine streets so far. I don't know if its bad marketing on Nissan's part or that the competitors are just that much better. But even if it is a good car, a very small local population will mean poor parts supply outside the casa, especially in the long run. This can be a huge headache and might lead to months-long time out in the garage due to lack of spare parts. When that time comes, it'll be near impossible to sell.

The Altima is a good car, with a very comfortable suspension and seats, but lags behind the Accord and Mazda6 in terms of interior quality. No more V6. Shame. Even with the CVT, it was kind of wild.
The Mazda6 is still the best driving midsized car out there, period. Nice, growly engine note. Just enough power to make it fun. And a good balance of agility and comfort. Best interior quality, too. Followed, perhaps, by the Accord and 508. If you want more power, the diesel option is great. Nice motor, good linear power (unlike other diesels that are a bit on-off... lag-lurch... nothing-everything... etcetera) and great economy.
The Camry is comfortable, soft and generallly just what you'd expect. Design choices inside and out are old fashioned. Don't expect the sporty US Camry to make it here. Our next generation car will most likely be conservatively styled.
The current Accord is a nice car. Perhaps the closest you can get to a BMW 3-series in this price range, but with a bigger back seat. The V6 has been massaged for a few more horses versus the old one, and shifts are crisp. Body control is also pretty fantastic, but the sporty suspension makes for a stiff ride in the backseat.
The 508 is a good performer. Somewhat like the Mazda6 in its balance of ride comfort and agility, just missing that little bit of chassis and steering feedback that sets the Mazda6 apart. The diesel is indeed a good alternative to gasoline competitors.
