Ayos ka talaga Shadow and I agree.
Diba nga kung hindi mo ikahihirap or ikayayaman. . .
Nung 28 ako?
I’m dreaming of sana may 3M ako na savings and owning my own car not hand me down or family car.
Like what is posted iba yun may freedom na sayo yung oto.
It is a depreciating asset yes, still may fun and memories (good or bad) na kapalit.
Andami ngang pinoy masolb lang yung DP tsaka na poproblemahin yung ibang expenses of owning a car diba?
Enjoy!

Some thoughts on this topic lang...
I. Financials
I think that first and foremost, most important here is your monthly salary and expenses. Care to share?
Just FYI - owning a car isn't just buying.
May maintenance pa (5-10K visit sa CASA) about twice yearly, and insurance once a year.
You also have to pay for gas and parking.
Merong calculator somewhere that mentions how much you should be making / how much you should have banked up to be able to buy a car without issues. Other than that, basic math lang naman assuming you take into account all the expenses related to owning a car.
As others have mentioned, it may be wiser in the long term to go invest in something like land or something else.
II. Usage
If your car will spend most of the month sitting in your garage sa province, I refer you back to #1 -- Financials. Do not buy. If you see your daily life improving a whole lot with this purchase, may sense naman yung car purchase. First and foremost, a car is a tool to travel with.
III. Hobby
Assuming you have that covered, you mentioned na introvert ka and you 'do not have any friends'. If you feel that this will help you go out more, make friends, learn how to socialize, talk, move up in the corporate world, then the answer for me is a yes, may sense din, pero dapat panindigan mo (don't buy and end up not going!)
Think of it as an investment (but don't "Invest" too much). That said, you can go hang out at car clubs without really owning a car. Mas mahirap lang ng konte, and better if may kaibigan ka doon to begin with.
OR you can just join in with some of the tsikoteers dito kapag may EB / event. You don't have to own a car. Some of the folks around here are very accommodating. (it is cheaper din than doing so)
IV. Chicks
If you think this will get you girls and you use this to show off, feel ko the only ones you can attract are really gold diggers. If someone else shows up with a BMW, edi lipat na yung babae sa kaniya?
Bottom line, without more info, medyo mahirap to give you a concrete recommendation. A lot of valid points raised here sa thread though.

no need for instructions.
it's in the genes.
besides, it's more fun if it comes from within you.
3M sounds like a big number, but with literally nothing to your name right now, ang dali ubusin niyan.
Go get a car. I'm about your age so I know the happiness that car ownership brings.
It doesn't have to be fancy anyway. Since single ka naman, something along the lines of a Civic for 1.1M. Get rims or whatever upgrade you want, maybe for a total of 100k. So you'll be left with 1.8M.
Now that you have the car out of the way, I would suggest that you start investing in property. Since you have a big lump sum, pwede ka mag-dowpayment ng condo.
Average price for a 2-bedroom condo in second prime locations is about 5M right now. 30% downpayment is about 1.5M so kayang kaya mo na i-cash. Loan mo nalang yung remainder. At least kaysa nagbabayad ka ng 5k/month na bedspace, you actually get to live in a place of your own.
If you buy a car in cash, yung monthly expenses mo sa gas, parking, toll, and maintenance will be around 10k/month.
Then learn to live a little - go out on dates, travel, buy decent clothing. Another 20k/month for you to enjoy your life should be fine.
Siguro naman more than 75k/month yung takehome pay mo kung kaya mong makaipon ng 3M (unless wala ka talagang binili in your ~8 years of working kaya ka may ipon).

Cathy
kaya ko lang nasabi dati ung people did not take into consideration the additional expenses that come with car ownership
pero once they have the car na, madami pala ibang gastos
like gas (haha), parking...
and pag may car na, mas gusto gumala so mas madami gastos
so they discover ang laki pala ng gastos aside from monthly payments on the car
