the Optra is very tempting...although if ever i were to pick one...it would be the City.
- Optra looks better than the City, exterior and interior. The City looks odd IMO but may probably grow on you.
- In the short trips Ive had in these two cars (as passenger), I'd say the Optra is more refined especially in the highway.
- The scary part of owning the Optra is it's perceived low-resale value and its reliability issues. But a brand new car should be generally OK at least up to 4 or 5 years.
Have you tested both cars? See if which one will appeal to you more.
How're you gonna use the car? is it a daily commute with 1 or 2 passngers? or just a second car? fuel economy may matter depending on this.
How about other cars? these 2 cars are good but there are better choices.
just my .02
For me, it's not the height per se, but for taller guys, it leaves your legs in an awkward position during long stints of driving. Medyo masakit sa knees for us "older" guys...Originally Posted by bajumbo

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
medyo nagsisisi din ako kung bakit Optra ang kinuha ko.
sana pala i bought mazda 3 or yung focus na 1.6L
bakit nga pala di mo i-consider yung ibang models?
ano kaya mga problems ng optra? kasi ung city mukang ok eh, mukang alang msyadong problema, kaya baka mgcity nlng ako na 1.5,
llc: Between your choices, sa City na lang. Pero I highly suggest that you also take a look at other options na pasok sa budget, Jazz, Civic (base model), Mazda 3 (base model), Swift pwede din. Kasi if I were in your shoes, the City and the Optra wouldn't even cross my mind (sorry sa City and Optra owners opinion lang po).
Or you could go 'pre-owned', but that'd be a whole new topic altogether.
sir llc,
If u ever get the City suggest ko kpag bumili k ng car cover get the very large size kung meron... kc ung large size bitin sa height kita ung skirt at part nung door nya although ung haba ok naman... tsaka sukatin mo ung parking space mo kc ung sa akin montik di magkasya... pinark ko sideways para magkasya mahaba kc... ung sa friend ko montik sumabit ung sideview mirrors nya. akala nya maluwag ung parking nya kc ung Vios nya kasyang-kasya.
Ano nga pala budget mo? kung 800k ung budget mo maganda ung MZ3 or wait for the new Civic, magastos lang sa gaso compared sa City... MT or AT? ok na ok ung CVT nung Honda I get 15.92 km/L mixed highway ang EDSA traffic(at rush hour).
I drive an Optra almost everyday and i wouldn't recomend it unless you won it in a raffle or bingo. hehe. its really a gas guzzler, you can only get a sligtly decent fuel economy if you drive it slow and economically which means no A/C. If you can bear it in our tropical climate. But i hav had an optra since 03' and luckily wala pa naman major problem although driving it sometime i feel na masisira na lang bigla one of this days. hehe.
get the jazz rather than the city or wait for the new civic na lang.
Unless you want a piece of metal to curse at and kick after 80,000 km of use...go for the City..
hehe..hanep talaga mag "review" si nikyOriginally Posted by niky

I know the Altis is "dated" but it still gets my vote, both for fuel economy and dependability of the vehicle itself and the dealers. You also get good resale value and moderately priced accessories/parts.
.
CITY with CVT! Advantageous sa gas dahil matipid talaga! And if you decide to set-up ang sounds mo, kahit 10 sub-woofer kasya sa trunk!!! (joke)
And with the CVT, di naman bitin sa power like most people think when it comes to auto tranny. Sarap pag-laruan yung sportmatic nya!
.
For that price category, the City and the Jazz are your best bets. The Vios is an acceptable alternative too. If you want to be different, the Suzuki Swift looks interesting.
But please, for the love of God, don't waste your money on the Optra.
