Warranty is supposed to be 8 years or so. Life will be shorter under abuse, much longer in gentle use. Some first generation cars are still going on the original pack at over 300,000 kilometers and nearly ten years. Alternatively, there have been issues with abused units. In this case, your mileage will vary very, very much.

The Prius C's lighter battery pack (compared to the regular Prius) shouldn't cost much more than 100k pesos, 150k with taxes but with the new AFV bill, taxes won't be an issue.

That's for the Prius C. Jazz sized. The regular Prius is the one that's halfway between Corolla and Camry size... (think older Mazda6)... but that will still be at around 1.5 - 1.8 million pesos. Probably 1.6 is the lowest it can realistically be priced.

Small cars with 1.5L or 1.6L engines will achieve 180kph with no problems. Same with the diesel engine equipped variants. They have enough oommphh to reach and even exceed 180kph (if the electronic speed limiter doesn't kick in first).

Meron story before na may bumubuntot sa isang Santa Fe na Hyundai Accent at 165kph. Naiwan lang daw nung Santa Fe nung pinush niya up 'til 200kph.

So there you go, yes, it's possible for an Accent to run at those speeds. As how stable it is, I don't know.

The new Swift with the 1.4 engine is said to be economical. Any feedback on this?
I think being matipid should also go as far as maintenance. I have noticed that modern CDRI engines are high maintenance. Frequent change oil with more expensive oil (amount and quantity). Bale wala yung tinipid mo sa fuel kung gagastosin mo din sa maintenance.

Yup this is very true....The first gen CRDI accents were brutally fast but very economical..(coz it's diesel).. I was trying to chase an accent with my vios 1.3 and sad to say my car was not able to at least tailgate the accent....iniwan ako ng mokong... but most mechanics and some accent owners in my neighborhood tells me that the accent has PLASTIC parts on the steering box (i think it was the steering rack made of plastic) plus the turbocharger on an accent CRDI often accumulates too much dust resulting to loss of power, increased FC and BLACK SMOKE...i would never dare go up to 200km/h in a car that has PLASTIC parts on my driver controls...

Agree ako sa sinabi niyo, sir. Yung tipid should also include maintenance cost, etc. not just fuel consumption. I haven't heard of the new Swift being said as "economical car." I hope that's true. Type ko pa naman yung two-tone (blue with white top color) unit nila. Ang cute.

We're talking about the older CRDi Accents which you commonly see on the road as taxi cabs.

santa fe? monster diesel engine ang nilagay nila jan pero at the same time, it's kinda efficient than the gas-fed tucson..according to my uncle who owns a sta. fe, the readings he get on the built-in consumption meter is around12-14.5L/100km (depende din daw sa driving style and conditions..mas matipid pa daw "di hamak" dun sa adventure niyang gas..and kapag PREMIUM package ang kinuha mo, it comes with GPS, back-up camera and other standard features...plus the santa fe can accomodate 7-8 people while the tucson is around 5 lang ata

Yeah dude, yung mga ginagawang taxi. Ever since I drove one hindi na ako nakikipag habulan pag naka Accent yung Taxi driver alam ko mapapahiya lang ako.

Anyway, kwento ng taxi driver before na naka Accent matipid daw talaga, pero pag nasiraan ka matagal daw pag nag order ng parts.

OT: Wala bang naka set up na Accent na sumasali sa Circuit Showdown? Feeling ko it has a chance, mas lalo na pag maraming turns and kelangan mag slowdown (provided it has a sport suspension package) ang bilis kasi mag accelerate e. Pag recta feeling ko pareho na lang sa iba e, sa acceleration talaga sha panalo.

Kaya lang 3 colors na lang daw available ngayon. Black, White, and Silver. Type ko pa naman yung parang Coffee Brown. Wala na atang ganung color sa latest model. Btw, what's the deal with the monster diesel engine.. Is that a good sign or not? I hope the Santa Fe diesel isn't going to turn into a huge chimney 3 years later. Dami kasi kong kwentong nadidinig or paninira lang?

Marami. Not as common as Vioses though, pero they're plenty. Ilan na rin nasasakyan ko na Accent taxi and indeed, they're incredibly fast. Sad thing though, ayaw minsan ilabas ng mga drivers ang mga Accent because of their hefty boundary ( 1900 for the Accent, 1300 for the Vios & 1,100 for the old Corollas )

Meron nga na Gen 10.5 ( newest ) Altis na taxi na eh.

Yup pang taxing accent nga daw yung kinuwento sakin not the new one...Wow kala ko kinukuwentong lasing lang ako ng kausap ko re that accent that smoked his jazz...ang pagkaka kuwento pa niya, habang pa tingin tingin daw siya sa speedo at nasa 180 na daw siya, pag tingin daw niya sa rearview , sabi niya sa sarili niya, WTF tong pangit na kotse na to, he's gaining on me, tapos binaon daw niya silinyador...pero that ugly car daw was still gaining....fast..mayamaya dumaan daw na parang nang iinsulto na overtake yung parang dinaanan lang siya...yun Accent na pang taxi nga..

Ako naman di makapaniwala..but the tsikoteers have spoken and confirmed it..
