Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, in partnership with Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC), held its Php 100 Hyundai Accent Amazing Fuel Economy Run on July 6, 2008.
The event involved 25 participants composed of regular Hyundai Accent owners (businessmen, taxi operators, drivers and car enthusiasts) who filled up at Shell Balintawak then traveled all the way to Shell Pampanga in an attempt to consume the least fuel.
Through the challenge, Hyundai aims to showcase the Accent's amazing fuel efficiency in tandem with Shell Fuel Economy formulas.
Carlito Dee Co emerged as the winner who traveled a distance of 57.3kms, consuming an amount of Php28.02. He was also able to break the 38.7 kms/liter record of C Magazine editor Tito Hermoso. Various cash prizes were given to the top three winners. Shell Lubricants also gave away items to all participants.
Shell Lubricants, together with Shell Retail, extended its full support to the global tie-up with Hyundai for the success of the event. [Chiro Verano Yap, B2C Direct Sales Account Manager]
another one....
There's a two page spread in today's Inquirer regarding the Hyundai Accent. They have this 100 peso Challenge Amazing Accent Fuel Econo-Run (consume less than P100 for a 50+ km. trip)
The champion only consumed 0.511 liters for a distance of 57.3kms from Balintawak to San Fernando, Pampanga. That's an unbelievable 112.13 kms/li FC! And the cost of fuel? P28.02 --- the toll is far more expensive!
UNBELIEVABLE talaga 112. kms../ liter.... baka naman hila hila yan!!!! he.he...

112 is impossible. The problem with such ultra-short eco-runs is that variances in fill-up and residual fuel in the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines and fuel return lines makes the margin of error bigger than the amount of fuel recorded. Better to do a 1000 peso challenge to minimize the margin of error.

Sadly, I've never gotten to eco-run the Accent. Strangely, when we had the Getz 1.5 CRDi, it wasn't that economical. Just 14 km/l mixed.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

pa'nong pagdadrive ginawa nung driver?
what's his speed?
kahit ata patay ang AC, mahirap yung 112.
