Aren't Crosswinds uneconomical ? I mean, diba roughly the same FC lang sila with the Innova.

Yup. Automatic is so-so in traffic. 6 in heavy, 8 in regular.

Manual up to 10 km/l in traffic.

The Alto can get 15 km/l in city driving.

Worst case scenario I've seen over the years (bad traffic, short trips):

    Baseline: CR-V 2.4 AWD 5AT 4.5 km/l

    Ford Fiesta 1.6 DCT 6.5 km/l
    New Jazz 1.3 VTEC 5AT 7.5 km/l
    City 1.3 iDSi 8 km/l
    Mazda2 1.5 4AT 8 km/l
    Montero Sport 2.5 MT 7-8 km/l
    Crosswind 2.5 AT Turbo 8 km/l
    Picanto 1.0 AT 8 km/l
    Ford Focus TDCi 8.5 km/l
    Crosswind 2.5 MT (non-turbo) 10 km/l
    Suzuki Alto 9-12 km/l

    Highway, non-eco-run:

    Baseline: CR-V: 10-12 km/l (14-16 km/l eco run... 17 DOE)

    Crosswind AT: 10-12 km/l
    Montero Sport: 12-14 km/l
    Ford Fiesta 1.6 DCT: 14-16 km/l
    New Jazz 1.3: 14 km/l
    Picanto AT / i10 AT (don't have city figures for i10): 14+ km/l
    Mazda2 1.5 4AT: 14+ km/l
    Crosswind MT: 14-16 km/l (16-19 eco run)
    City iDSi: 16+ km/l (23 eco-run)
    Focus TDCi: 16+ km/l (21 eco-run)
    Alto: 23+ km/l (30+ eco-run, DOE)

    -

Really want to save, buy a secondhand Alto 800cc MT.

If you want an automatic... the only automatic that comes close to manuals is the CVT. And durability of secondhand CVTs is very questionable. Most automatic micro-cars are not very economical. Toyota automatics tend to be good... supposedly the Yaris/Vios AT can hit 20 km/l, but I didn't see that when I tested it. My numbers were in the same range as the Mazda2, slightly better than Fiesta. Actually, AT to AT and MT to MT, my fuel economy figures were almost identical between the Mazda2 and the Vios. These are probably the ATs you want to get... not much less economical than the Picanto/i10 AT, but with lots more space and power.

Disclaimer: these runs were in similar conditions, but not absolutely identical, so take it with a grain of salt. The only thing I can guarantee... the Alto is fricking fantastic in terms of economy.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
