vios is the conservative choice for me. it's already got a good provenance behind it, spanning a decade.
mirage is still young-ish in the market.. not much of a longevity history yet.. but if the more vociferous owners are to be believed, they seem to be a happy lot.
what would i get? i still don't know.
but if resale value is in your mind, vios trumps mirage.
    heh heh.

that helps a lot. Hmmm. vios 1.3J is use for taxi.
While the Gls mirage is top of the line of its model. Do u think the 1.3j vios still has an edge? What do u think sir? But when it comes to looks vios got it.

well, i haven't seen too many mirages running around as taxis.. come to think of it, i haven't seen even one yet..
i kinda feel that having one's car model as a taxi is like saying, "matibay yan at murang i-mentena".
but i'm probably not the best person to ask.. in my family, we see cars as tools, not status symbols. i wouldn't mind being seen driving a vios J, beside a taxi, also vios J.

but in answer to your question, yes, i believe vios J still has it, even as it has steel wheels and no ABS...

I have a friend who chose the Mirage thanks to its toys (she even added the GPS and rear view camera)...

But I told her if someone asks your again... Use "safety features" as a reason.

Same here... Although I must admit, my first 2 cars in college were non-Toyota's because of the taxi issue.

Price wise, mas mura ang Vios 1.3J (630k) compared to any of the Mirage G4 GLS variants (703k for the MT, 753k for the AT). I'm wondering why they have the same 13k monthly amortization (discounts ba?). Pero kung pareho talaga sila ng monthly, I would choose the Mirage G4 GLS over the Vios 1.3J. But if you add Vios 1.3E to the options, pipiliin ko yang 1.3E na yan .

Taxi? No problem, get a color other than white. And besides, hindi mo naman dapat ikahiya ang kotse mo sir kahit ano pa yan. Especially kung pinaghirapan mo naman sya [emoji106].

normally, i would go for the vios. but since your choice is a Vios 1.3J, i find that too bare, so my choice would be the mirage.
however, if you can extend your budget to a Vios 1.3E, i would recommend that you go for the Vios.

The Mirage G4 is a lot more fuel efficient than the Vios.

Performance wise pareho lang. Mas luxurious lang ang 1.3E.

Test drive both vehicles and see whats the best for you.

Things you may want to consider...

There's a 2017 Mirage (Hatchback) - no idea if how this will affect the G4 (Attrage) but maybe a facelift is coming... Specs also mentioned that the 2017 Mirage has more HP...

I personally hate driving a car with less than 1.6L engine... But (my sister has a Vios and my friend has a G4) I find the new Vios' body too heavy for the 1.3 engine... G4 feels ok, but the body feels too light... Everytime I knock on it there's this strange feel that the sheets used are thinner than usual...

engine wise and performance wise, no difference. only difference are cosmetics.

J has steel rims, E has allow wheels (mags)
J has no door trims, E has one.
J has no power windows, power locks and power windows, E have them.
J, i think has no keyless entry system, E has them.

I think even the steering wheel, may steering wheel remote na ata ang E. Newer Vios na E have flat screen HUs.
imho, worth the difference in price (i think its around 50k difference).

Vios J is All power window.
    No ABS.
Price difference of Vios E to J is around 110K.

What's the average fuel consumption of a 1.3 manual vios?

I'm in a similar situation but i'm considering vios j mt and swift 1.2 mt. I heard the swift can do 12km/l city driving.

I have no idea on the maintenance cost of both. Feel free to chime in if you do.

The car i want to get will primarily be used for city driving (pasig-san juan) and during rush hour. My primary consideration is cost of operating (PMS and fuel consumption. Ofcourse parts availability and overall "tibay" are important as well. Resale value not so much as i will be using it for at least 5 years so it will probably reach floor value by then.

    Your thoughts?

    ^

    Vios.

Our 2010 AT/E is averaging 12-14 km per litre, on a mixed cycle. An MT will give you better figures.

That's great FC! But I heard the latest vios is more thirsty than the previous one.
