    Hello Mga Sir,

Patulong naman to decide. I'm planning to buy a 2nd hand car, may first car actually. budget 350k-400k or less mas better

    City 2010/altis 2010 or 11/wigo 2014-15 / or suggestions.

I've been asking here and there sa iba ibang specific thread of the car. Pero mas better siguro kung sa in general ako mg tanong.

1st timer mg car. im commuting daily from dasma cavite to makati.
Purpose ng car pra sa family pag may lakad (4 to 5 kami pag naalis) or date with gf pag weekends or walang pasok. And balak na mg sarili (kasal) < kaya bitin ang budget since sa kasal and kung may matira sa future house.
Might use the car sa office from time to time pero baka mg bus pa din since isang straight lng from dasma to makati sa bus.

So ayun, tulong naman guys, kakatapos ko lng mag aral actually mg drive ng manual hehe. salamat sa sasagot.!

The Altis will fit all your needs since this is the only compact car in your list. Remember it is a toyota so having it service outside will not be a pain in the arse or having it serviced at the dealer will not cost you an arm and leg.

scratch out the wigo, since you will be using it for 5.

    City
    - looks good, drives good. however, 5 may not fit properly, although ubra.
    - great fuel consumption.
    - excellent resale value
    - looks better with a GF.

    Altis
    - bigger, but power wise, would just be equal to the city.
    - would fit 5 people comfortably.
    - however, could be prone to the rack and pinion issue
    - looks better with a wife and kid....

    Other options:

FD Civic, actually, i think a better option that these two.

and oh, if possible get an AT.... lupet ng trapik. di ka magsisisi.

I'd look for a Civic FD. The 1.8L models just strikes a good balance in usable space and performance. Just make sure to check the engine supports.

Thank sir! same answer with sir 1D4LV. how much pa po ba ito civi, I searched in OLX mostly 450k++ pa sya
definitely not in the budget, pero meron nsa 400k less dunno if thats ok.

And i saw some Mazda 3 1.6 2010 model. around 300k sorry nadagdag sa options. since mas mura sya, makakagaan sa budget, but worth it ba na kunin un mazda 3 compare sa mga nauna ko options kung mgtitipid ako?

in-terms of maintenance ba, FC, registration bka mas makakagastos ako?

if you are a newbie in cars, avoid the Mazda 3 muna.
malakas ang FC and medyo mahirap ang maintenance. medyo di din ganung kadami ang parts compared to the Hondas and Toyotas.

if it is outside of your budget, don't force it. try din to look for a 2nd hand, good conditioned vios. much better for you.

Be patient and look around more. A few weeks back, my wife and I were evaluating buying 2nd hand or new. We also had a 400k budget for a used car. I was looking at 2 options within the south area - a Civic FD 2010 1.8L and 2010 Escape 2.3L, both units at less than 50k KM and had an asking price of 400k. We opted to buy brand new instead but those 2 units were just fine for a used car.

    OOT.

Since you mentioned your plans and intentions already, and need to stretch on what you have in your budget. If I was in your feet, here is what I will do intend to get and buy.

    1. House (with garage).
    2. Vehicle
    3. Wedding.

I put first in mind to prioritize number 1, although #2 and #1, can be both achieve, if #2 is budgeted down, like P100k less.

Since #3, is in your plan. It would be nice to know that after getting wed with your gf, both of you have already got a place to stay and call a home.

Although #2 can be replace anytime in the future.

It is only my opinion or point of view, just sharing what I thought if I was in your feet. But the decisions will always be yours.

between house and car, house is always number one on my list.
    no buts.
and make sure it has garage space for the car.

yes, i know... it will probably take 5 to 10 times more, but one has to start somewhere, right?

Yup sir I agree to the both of you, I also have that in my plans. siningit ko lang talaga un budget for the 2nd hand car since sa pera ko I think I can. Why wait kung need ko na sya. kaya naisipan ko din bawasan un budget to 300k nung nakita ko ung mazda 3. Sa house, may money na ako for atleast 50% dp sa subdivision around sta. maria bulacan. Kaso Hindi na daw available yung may garage but pwede naman sa harap daw since maluwag naman, syempre I'm looking with the garage one, pinagsasabay ko nga lang ung pag canvass now heheh.

This was also the sequence of my priorities and you will never regret of owning a house first with garage. In my opinion since malaki yung family nyo (5 members) i think u need to get a bigger car like crv. Kasi pag nag out of town kayo mas malaking space ang magagamit nyo for your things.

And since ndi naman for daily drive, gas will not be a big problem.

Like I said in the other thread, a 1.6 Mazda 3 is an awful choice. Poor FC, no power.

2.0 is a better buy for roughly the same price but it still has poor FC. More power and toys though.

Best bet would be the Altis. Turns out it's cheaper than a similarly-aged City. Mas maganda pa rin ride ng Altis sa City. FC is the same, power is comparable (City has more top end power, Altis has more low end power).

Manual Altises are cheaper by about 20-30k, if you can live with it. Also, any Altis that's less than 350k is probably full of problems. Decent automatic units are usually 370k and up.

On getting a house in Bulacan - not my thing especially if you work in Makati. Just imagine the traffic, toll, and gas expenses on a daily basis. You'll be on the road 5 hours a day.

But if your point is just to have a house you can call your home, then sure go for it. I think a condo is much more convenient and practical for a starting family - you can always move up to a bigger house in a better location later on.

If you'll be living in bulacan and will work in makati, be sure na malapit lang to sa nlex kasi it will be a 2 hour commute.

Ok lang din sa bulacan if u have a flexi time schedule and work from home kasi kung ndi mapapagod ka sa everyday traffic.

Wala po selling ng 2.0 sa olx eh saan pa ba pwede mg hanap? puro 1.6 po. Kaya ako interested dun sa 1.6v dahil malapit sa area namin ngayon hehe. Then all altises nsa 400k+ price range. okay na ba ung 1.6g?

kaya sa bulacan, dahil sa work ni gf sa Nueva ecija. but monday to thursday lng sya dun, since may bahay sila dun. Ako naman nsa dasmarinas cavite. Balak ko talaga is sa kawit cavite. pgkalagpas ng cavitex. Pwedeng mag car or mg bus mabilis lang makapasok hehe. *perks of LDR*

About condo. Too expensive for me, twice or thrice the amount of a decent house na kase sya. although I'm also looking for one maybe may matipuhan. plus 400k pa pra sa garage. advantage lang is magagamit ko sya pag lumipat ako, like paupahan ko or something

    Thanks sir!

same pala sa answer ko sa taas sa commute, sanay na ako since everyday commute ako from dasma to makati , around 5 hrs papunta't pabalik. kaya type ko sa kawit baka maging 3 hrs nalang sya. since 1 hr lng nsa pasay na.

Sayang, I know of a 2009 Altis in really good condition for 380k, kaso manual.

Anyway, from my experience, the cheapest models for sale usually end up more expensive in the long run.

For one, they're visibly in poorer condition than the more expensive units. Scratches and dents are common, but at least they're easily fixable. Worn out interior bits are worse because they're hard to source and quite expensive.

Often, they also have underchassis rattles. The seller will say that they just haven't found the time to have it fixed but in reality, it's usually because it's an expensive repair.

Lastly, aside from the needed repairs you immediately see, a poorly-maintained car will most likely have more parts break down during your ownership of the unit.

So my advice is to go for the best unit you can find, even if it's 20-30k more expensive than other units.

I agree! do not be afraid sa mejo may kataasan, nakaka tawad naman minsan. Also, careful with altis, bukod sa rack/pinion, ung isa pang sakit nyan spanning different generations ay ung AC. do your research!

Depending sa age nyo, circumstances, and other factors, para saken lang uunahin ko yung kotse. because yan ang pinaka madali IMO. Yung ibang tao uunahin ang mas mahirap, ung iba uunahin ang mas madali na goals. its up to you sir. In my opinion lang since madali syang ma accomplish, you can move on to goal#2, keep the momentum na rin.

Of course mas lalaki na gastos mo pag me auto ka na, pero (sana) that should translate to more quality time with loved ones, gf. Can't put a price on that, but something to consider rin.

    .
Sakit ata ng Corolla ang steering. Pinakamalaking expense at sakit ng ulo ko sa 1996 Corolla ko yung rack and pinion though this happened when the car was more or less a decade old. When I sold the car in 2014, lahat stock pa except for the radiator, AC evaporator, fan at rack & pinion

10th gen Altis, casa replaced the whole steering within the first year of the car. It also had AC problems on the 2nd or 3rd year, so I had to return the car to the casa several times within warranty period also.

11th gen Altis also had an A/C problem, this gave me the biggest headache. It happened within the first year of the car pa lang.

All cars worked perfectly after pero yun nga lang HASSLE. Abala.

Also had a 7th gen, and now a 10th and 11th gen - all without issues. It's not a systemic issue that plagues all units, but it's still best to take note of these potential issues especially when buying secondhand.

2nd hand comparison: City 2010/altis 2010/wigo 2014-15 / or suggestions
