Every 5k dapat kahit diesel or gas..di naman kailangan fully synthetic, kahit yung basic na langis ok na..
I have 2 diesel olds schools with 180k and 100k mileage, every 5k changeoil lang, ok naman..

Lalo na ngaun kahit mineral base oil lang wala ng coking problems unlike the old ones....

Kung meron ka naman diesel high-pressure commonrail rail na sasakyan naman, which is equal to = they run hotter relative to dinosaur or old-school diesel engines, which engine oil would you use sir?

You're talking sir Oliver of 19,500 psi to plus 20,000 psi for the D-4D, 25,000 psi for the Navara, and around 29,000 psi to 30,000 psi sa mga iba pang model at wala sir old school diesel na tumatakbo ng ganyan injection pressure kasi wala naman sila commonrail.

    Cheers!

    P.S.
i use fully-synthetic pala sir Oliver and change the oil every 8,500 km....

    ditto

Modern gas engines can go 100,000 - 150,000 kms plus without experiencing those old MAF or vacuum problems that plagued earlier EFI engines.

Whereas diesels, as d_mac says, are now ultra-high pressure injection units. The pumps and the EGR and SCV are common failure or problem points that show up well before 100,000 kms in some cases... and for the unfortunate few, even before 40,000 kms.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Among the modern engines available locally, which would you rather get? Let's say same manufacturer and same model, both available in diesel or petrol. Which is more economical for long term use?

Old school pa din pala ang thinking ko about diesel engines. Ang first modern diesel kasi namin is an ReVGT. 45,000 kms pa lang. Kaya napapaisip tuloy ako about our next purchase whether diesel or petrol.

I suppose among modern diesels available locally, the ReVGT engines are still some of the best available. The ones that have the least issues seem to be those with Bosch injection systems like Hyundai/Kia's CRDi's and Ford's Duratorq line.

I'd still go with the diesels, especially with bigger cars. Gas engines 2.0L and above are just too thirsty to compare with the typical modern diesel, especially in city driving. If you take good care of the engine, it is very much likely to last as long as or outlast a gas engine with little problems. Take the infamous 4JX1. The perfect example of a lemon engine, and yet there are satisfied owners here in Tsikot who are nearing the 200tkms mark. Even if we say that maintenance cost is more expensive, it isn't very often that you bring your car in for PMS so given the superior gas mileage with cheaper fuel, I am perfectly fine with the compromise.

There are solutions for injectors that have issues

Always change your fuel filter every 10,000km
Never refuel to those stations that have low ground level
& add 2T oil to diesel to avoid/prevent injector failure

How about the German diesel cars? There are receiveing a lot of raves for their fuel economy and great performance. Are they overrated compared to Japanese or Korean counterparts?

the higher models not over rated imo. look and listen to the x5's, q7's and rr's hindi tunog diesel ang makina tapos kahit todo apak sa gas di mausok. i rarely see that on japanese/korean diesel engines.

Nausok din yan mga bmw kasi poor quality diesel natin.. with crdi ng mga koreans bosch system yan so halos parehas ng bmw unlike yun sa mitsu at toyota.. one thing na napansin ko sa d4d at did yung amoy ng exhaust.. amoy old school diesel pa din unlike sa crdi ng kia at hyundai na amoy alcohol

Lalo na yung mga sedans (320D, 520D, 530D, A4 TDI, A6 TDI), parang di naman kasing usok sa highway tulad ng iba.

If our local diesel is of low quality, why will BMW-Audi-MB still sell their diesel-powered cars locally? Are there a lot of issues related to poor quality diesel being reported among them?
