Mitsubishi's 4M40 or 4D56?

Local Pajero Gen 2.5 with 4M40 looks like this one. But as you can see, this model is the V6 model.

In terms of maintenance naman how does the two compare.

4D56 is more cheaper to maintain because it is more smaller compared to the 2800cc of the 4M40.
