June 20th, 2010 09:21 PM #71tidus1203: I know. I also tried defending my dad's side sa mom ko just as I defend my mom's sa dad ko naman. But yes thankfully my decision na. The Vios is a bland car but I don't really have qualms about settling for it.
mda: Haynako siguro on the first day na susunduin ako ng kotse from my boarding house in UP Diliman, ipapadala ko yung camera sa dad ko. It really, really needs a pictorial.

June 25th, 2010 04:47 PM #72I've been lurking around Tsikot and I saw that there are HUGE discounts being offered for the Yaris. I gave a dealer a ring kanina and as of now may 30k discount na kami. That would result to P701k which is ~P15k above the City na lang.
If they manage to compete well with the City's price (Maibababa pa kaya talaga yung price? Nakakainggit naman kasi yung may P70k discount diyan eh DX), what do you think? City or Yaris?
Personally kung ganun yung situation, Yaris na pipiliin ko. It's much more unique and practical than the City. But this will have to go through my mom, so yeah.).
Kamusta ba ang resale value ng Yaris? What about maintenance? Bakit parang konti lang ang nasa roads?
I hope Yaris and City 1.3A owners post their first hand experiences here about their cars, and their suggestions as well.
// OT: This is such a headache already. I just stumbled upon something na nagsasabing there are HUUUUUUUGE discounts for the Yaris and... eto na. *-)
Thanks for the advice in advance :D

As far as resale I think the City will get higher resale, Yaris shouldn't be too far behind since its also a well known brand Toyota. But if ever you get the Yaris at a lower price than the City A then ok lang mas mababa resale nya since you paid lower when you bought it naman...
IMO di sya (Yaris) bumenta because maybe people didn't like its looks... Cutesy kasi rather than the more sporty and aggressive look of the competition... Its a good everyday car (think Vios practicality pero not used as a taxi), not stylish but it gets the job done and is the value winner IMO. The competition (Jazz to be specific) is overpriced IMO and didn't even bother with it as I was shopping for my econobox last year...
My opinion is this... If this is your only car GET THE CITY because it has a trunk and you might need it! The Yaris has very small trunk (although seats fold flat to accommodate more items but you lose the extra seating capacity as a result) If this is a 2nd car or a backup get the Yaris cause it has the better engine, more torquey, and arguably more fuel economic too!

June 25th, 2010 05:47 PM #74*after11years tinututukan ko tong thread mo at sa August halos same rin nung mga choices nyo yung nasasama sa listahan namin, lancer, vios, city and now yaris he he...
medyo tumatatak sakin yung mga discounts like for the lancer kung hindi ko sya makukuha with a minimum of 47k discount tangal na sya sa selection, yung vios with 30k discount tumaas sya sa lista namin, sa yaris naman from 70k max discount last year, nakakaingit nga yun, tingin ko we have to shoot for maximum discount possible, may bagong model ng lalabas next year tapos hindi pa sya kasama sa top sellers ng toyota, hindi man 70k dapat siguro around 50K targetin natin sa discount yung vios nga na isa sa top seller ng toyota 30k na discount...
advise rin ng marami dito test drive mo na rin muna bro yung Yaris and please post feed back
he he buti na lang may tsikot.com forums at nababasa ko na yung headaches pagpili ng sasakyan and make a decision ahead of time...

June 25th, 2010 06:10 PM #75tidus1203: This will be our only car. We're only three in the family and sometimes medyo marami kaming dala. This is kinda... weird. And yes, tama ka, mas practical ang City in that case. Pero features-wise, the Yaris seems more practical.
jom's: Tukayo!) Mukhang City pa rin yata kami, though I personally want the Yaris. Mom's call though.

a11y : Since you're going to use the trunk ( for baggage ) then the City would be best. It's looks aren't as bland and as gay as the new Vios and it runs quite well too. As for the Yaris, well yeah .. it's cheap and because of it's size it would be a fun car to drive. You would really find an easy time parking.
It's still your choice. If you think the space of the Yaris would suffice, then go on. If you really think you need a trunk then the City would be then again, best.
You might also want to visit several dealers if you have time for you to finalize the amount of discount that can be given to you. For sure it wouldn't be only staying * the 30k mark, it could be higher or worse lower. If you do good in haggling discounts then it's a plus for you.

June 25th, 2010 07:20 PM #78tidus1203: Noted. Thanks for the advice.
renzo_d10: My parents will decide on the available space part but I really think that the City wins in that category. But everything else that the Yaris has is just way more worth it than what the City offers.
Yung sa discount, siguro magagawan ng paraan yan. But in the first place I don't really think my parents will consider the Yaris just because it doesn't have a trunk. We've had our share of "How I wish our car was bigger" moments with the Civic during the rare occasions na napakarami naming dala and I guess the Yaris, despite how feature-packed it is, just isn't practical for our family.
Looks like my sights are set back on the Honda City. Naalala ko ang aming EPIC baggage debacle last May when my family went to Pansol for an overnight trip. We're such pack rats and we brought more stuff like three cakes and a lot of party favors (surprise party ksai for some of my parents' friends, tapos si MOm yung organizer) that I ended up carrying my laptop on my laps the entire trip, and Mom was kidding she felt like she was in an airconditioned car trunk with a seat.). I don't really know how we can survive such conditions kung Yaris na car namin.

June 26th, 2010 01:12 PM #79Go for the City. Features-wise, yes, lamang ang Yaris. IMO, super bang-for-the-buck features nya for the pice (especially nun bago mag mid-model change where discounts were as big as P70k), but the Yaris is basically good for two people only. Way below than the space being offered by the Jazz.
On your earlier comment, I don't agree much on the "practicality" of the Yaris. It's not really that practical in the sense that it's too small for it's current price. For your situation, City A would suit you better.
Tsaka, thinking that way (that 15k nalang, pwede ka na mag-1.5 yaris), sobra sobra ka na magiging overbudeget, next thing you know sasabihin mo, add ka nalang uli ng 20k, gusto mo pa yung model tapos may features na kung ano meron sa Yaris (City S)... and so-on and so-on.
Stick close to your budget, go City A na. Hirap kumita ng pera.

June 26th, 2010 03:15 PM #80bro after11years sa nanabasa ko dito sa forums, tumatatak sa isip ko na "you can not go wrong" sa Honda City yun nga lang sa category nya pinaka pricey sya along with the jazz...
he he *homer jay totoo yang sinasabi mo about "15k na lang", learned here from the forums to set our limit, kaso with the discounts available baka sakali lang na pumasok yung ibang cars sa budget, tulad nung yaris if not 70k kung 45K discount papasok na sya sa budget, subok lang kung makakakuha ng ganun kalaking discount if not, balik sa original choices...
I have those "Fire Stop" brand extinguishers by the driver's door cup holder/pocket. I don't think...
Fire Extinguisher for Car: what brand and type...
