I have a 1st gen innova diesel MT, bought 2016. Wifey wants to drive AT instead of MT. So I will sell my current innova.

Im torn between a 2nd hand innova diesel AT or the brand new Xpander AT.

I am considering the Xpander even though it is gas fed because my office and my wife's office are not too far away from our home, its just about 18 kms back and forth. Our working hours is either 11am to 8pm or 4pm to 12 midnight, so traffic is not that bad. So in short, it would be a low mileage car.
-The cruise control is a plus when traversing NLEX
    -Easier ingress/egress for eldery
-Ligther steering wheel compared to innova (will be used mostly by wifey)
-Seat height adjust (also for wifey)

2nd hand diesel innova (E or G) is being considered because of:
    -bigger space
    -more engine power
-sturdier under chassis more suited to our roads

-The car will be used within the city most of the time.
-We go out of town once or twice a year only, with 7 people.
-Car will be loaded with 7 people on weekends, but within the city and short distances only

Hope someone can help me decide which is a better buy. Thank you!

Kung ako syempre Innova. Sobrang layo naman ang makina ng dalawa. Not to mention the space, the resale value... It is like comparing the Innova to the Avanza.

However, I am not your wife. Ask the wife! [emoji23]

    "Happy wife... happy life"

Go with the wife's choice. Besides you're getting a brand new car... iwas na rin sa sakit ulo.

Your driving distance is minimal lang naman so i guess its ok to go with a gas fed Xpander. At least less maintenance costs compared to diesel especially if you plan to keep it for a long time.

make computations, po, re. expander vs. used innova.
cost of acquisition and fuel expenses.
then sit back and ask oneself if the extra expense, if any, is acceptable.

i am of the impression that the old innovae are so well-designed and robustly built, that it has few problems thru the years.
i don't seem to recall horror stories from used innova buyers...
    but i could be mistaken.

Why not a brandnew innova instead? With 2.8 diesel engine! Xpander is an all new model for mitsubishi with no known track record yet whereas the innova have proved its worth since its release

Officemate ko 15kms ang distance from their home to our office back and forth, 5k per month daw ang gas nya. Ako 26kms from our home to office (previous office) e 4k per month lang ang gastos sa krudo..same traffic situation kami na bumper to bumper lagi.

As for the 3rd row, kids lang naman ang uupo most of the time so not an issue for me.

Ay, may space constraints pala. I suggest you visit the Mitsubishi showroom and have a test drive, or at least check out if the car will be able to suit your needs. Since you mentioned using it on out of town trips, perhaps you can bring your luggage to test the cargo space.

I rather doubt it will be able to fit 7 passengers plus all of their stuff though. If you push through with this, you may have to invest on a good roof rack.

Already checked the xpander with my wife last weekend. Yung 2nd row comfortable naman kami, pinaupo namin yung agent sa 2nd row to check the elbow room and pumasa naman sa amin.. Im 5'4 and she's 4'11 lang naman kaya kasya kaming 3 hehe

Will test drive it next year kapag malapit na bumili.

in that case, remove from your list any and all vehicles that will not fit in your garage.
that should make your choices easier.

or, you can modify the garage.
