Let's see what Nissan has to say about it... airbag delay is merely a programming glitch, and easy to fix. Footwell deformation will require, at the very least, welding or bolting in new brackets to reinforce the footwell... not an easy thing to do on a couple of thousand cars.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Simply welding or bolting on a new bracket(?) probably won't be that effective.
Nissan will probably have to redesign the footwell area itself since there are other factors involved like what areas need thicker steel and the way some surfaces are shaped.

Nissan Navarra looks good and looks like fuel economy is good as well cause it has 5speed and 6speed transmissions.

Strada looks good as well. Has a very unique curves compared to competitors. Engine is good as well.

Dmax doesn't look bad. Have experienced its fuel economy with the Alterra (as they have the same engine) thumbs up!

Hilux - wag na lang. Sorry! di ko type! talo ka sa engine.

Maybe the Starda should also be included in this thread, considering the safety issues of the Navara and D-Max.

Then again, safety was not part of the criteria...

Choose bet. the strada and navara.

I've have driven the strada, and it felt like I'm driving a comfy car... hanep sa comfort! On the navara, I haven't drove it yet... just waiting for my Aunt's fresh unit to come in next month! Then I'll post my official say about the pick up. But actually, the navara is popular in the states it became the no.1 pick up there, sa u.k naman it also did for several number of years now my friend kya si Auntie nagmamadali ng kumuha. He he..

I am sure magiging mabenta yun dito because not a lot knows about crash tests and safety (nor care about them). Often, for ordinary Filipinos, buying a car is all about looks and brand.

Improved Nissan Navara gains three star rating

Euro NCAP today releases results for its assessment of the modified Nissan Navara. The upgraded car has achieved three stars for adult occupant protection. After Euro NCAP's earlier tests highlighted serious safety concerns, Nissan promptly modified all new production vehicles and initiated a Service Campaign to upgrade the airbag software of all Navaras produced since 2005.

Better, but still not as safe as an L200 Strada/Triton

Well the European test is one but it's for a right hand drive vehicle. Here's the link to two test of the Nissan as a left hand drive and the results were better.

Its not really about being LHD or RHD, EuroNCAP has different safety standards.
We're also not sure what modifications were done to the current US-made USDM Nissan Frontier.

I'm considering getting a pick-up instead of the Tucson (due to stock availability of the CVT model). I'm also torn between the Dmax & Navarra. I plan to get the A/T version. I will use it mostly for city driving with occasional cargo hauling (less than 500 kg). Money wise...they are price almost the same (freebies and discounts considered). In terms or ride, handling, power, comfort, fuel economy and reliability; which of the two is better?

I was faced with the same choice recently pero yung 4x2 manuals.

I'm leaning more towards the navara because of two primary reasons. una mas malaki at modern sya kaysa sa Dmax pangalawa yung combination ng 6sp manual at torque.

pero in all honesty nagdadasal ako na di ako magsisisi sa huli kasi gustong gusto ko din yun dmax. i still own a fuego bilib ako sa tibay at sa tipid sa krudo kaya ganun din image sakin ng dmax. power di masyado nagkakalayo 146 vs 144 hp pero torque medyo bentahe ng navara 294 vs 343nm ata. tsaka 6sp pa. sabi nila pinaka matipid ang isuzu sa krudo ng pickup naniniwala ako dun yun nga lang after owning an isuzu for the last 8yrs and 100t plus kms and still counting gusto ko naman subukan ang nissan. I'm pretty sure matibay din naman ang nissan pickup pero compared to an isuzu i would have to get back to you on that.

hehe thanks for the vote of confidence sir!
may ilang months ko nadin pinag iisipan ito and to complicate thing a bit more halos mag ka presyo silang dalawa. After discounts and all the dmax is only scant 5k pesos less than the navara.

pikap gurus pa help din po here..
my sister want a 4x2 pickup truck a/t,
dmax, navara at ranger lang pumasok sa options
sana kung 4x4 pikaps me idea na ako... kaso sa 4x2 wala talaga..
will use pala city driving, occasional province trips (bulacan, n.ecija, aurora) and hauling of gen. merchandise paminsan minsan..
ok sakin ang navara kaso un ranger and dmax ang underchassis durability yata is the same with their counterpart 4x4 model ryt? unlike 4x2 navara mas maliliit ang balljoints, arms, etc. compare to 4x4 navara. tama ba?
sana me mga actual owners to compare.. God send lalo yung me the same unit para walang mali sa choice, if merun man konti lang.. hehe.. tnx

    Hi guys,
I'm planning on buying my first pickup within the year, and I am torn between:
    Navarra, Dmax and Ranger/Trekker
I'm planning on getting 4x2 A/T and would really appreciate your comments and suggestions in terms on which is a better choice:
will use 90% city driving 10% provincial road, but not too much off road, if ever typical province roads na unpaved lang.
hauling maybe once a week at max 50kg

    F/C
which is cheaper to maintain (parts)
    reliability
    safety (passengers)
    comfort/ride
    better back seat comfort
    resale value

also, is it true that dealers give out better promos at the end of the year?
and is Dmax coming out with a new model within the year?

    Thanks, really appreciate any inputs

We are on the same boat, I chose Navara 4X2 AT for the ff reasons...

Base on the PMS I have seen posted here, Navara is the cheapest of the bunch. I also like its looks, macho and contemporary fused into one. I also like its balance in all factors. Some trucks have good 2nd row space, some have good price, some have good cargo capacity, some handle well, some are powerfu and some are better in off-roading. Navara performs well on all of those except price. But the price is just a consequence for being IMO the most well balanced truck. But I have admit its interior features leaves a lot to be desired. The stock radio does not even play MP3... Pero madali naman palitan ang HU...

Haven't bought mine yet, but usual freebies like LTO, tiny, floormats, seatcover, bedliner, tube step...

D-max? I don't like its looks... Ranger naman matagtag...
