Personally, I'd go for the diesel. The gas has a higher top speed, but the diesel has power where it is most needed, which is the low to midrange part of the rpm band which is most used in city driving, mountain climbing, and normal highway cruising. Even then, there are many modification possibilities should power still be found lacking. We do not have an Innova, but I do know many Innova D4D owners who have clocked well above 100tkms and still have not replaced anything major. I don't particularly like its ride quality, which is similar to a typical ladder frame SUV. In terms of FC, the diesel is king. Consumption does not dramatically increase under heavy traffic or sudden heavy throttle like it does with gas engines. Average km/L is higher than its gas counterpart, and price per liter is significantly lower. Maintenance cost may be higher, but depending on how much you travel, that is mostly done just around twice a year. The price gap isn't really that big either.

If the diesel is forgone due to the maintenance/parts cost, vibration or noise, I'd suggest the Fuzion instead. It is roomier and more comfortable.
