Yes, bro... Kaya nga "old faithful" ang tawag ko.... :hysterical:

:twak:

Both hiace and starex maganda power band. Pero if ako pipili, id rather choose the super grandia. Madali pa ingress and egress for all passengers.

A/T kasi. Hehehe!

    This we'll have to see.

Although sa totoo lang, hindi mo rin alam kung winner din yung Grandia after 10 years - the only 'assurance' you have is the Toyota badge. While new models carry over a lot of older parts from the previous ones, lots of new, "unproven" parts also get introduced.

This is of course, unless you're talking about cars like the Crosswind - which has been around since the time of the dinosaurs (and certainly rides like it came from that time period).

Sa totoo lang, the Super Grandia was the de facto candidate when we were about to replace our year 2000 Hi Ace Grandia.

I was comparing the Starex VGT A/T to the Super Grandia with the fabric seats. Pero ang layo ng offer. The SG was P150K more expensive than the GS - and the SG came with steel wheels with caps! 4 A/T vs 5 A/T, 102HP vs ~170HP. Underspecced, overpriced.

Naisip ko nalang, kung maging masirain yung Starex after 5 years (warranty period), then we could use the proceeds of selling it plus the savings of P150K to purchase a new van. (This was our first Hyundai).

At this point in time and after 1 year and close to 20K KMs, it may certainly not be our last.

My friend's 2001 Starex Millenium is still running very well to this day. SOme interior fit and finish is not as good but overall, the vehicle is okay and reliable. That's 11 years already so i don't see why the GS can't follow suit.

Our family has a Grandia BTW. It's good and i like it but it could be better. It's really a car relegated to the driver most of the time and if it were for personal driving/use, i'd get the GS any day.

Mura kasi tsaka malakas aircon and better suspension. Toyota eh.

One could also ask the question of the Super Grandia's D4D engine. High pressure fuel systems break. A lot. An old school diesel might see 200-300k kms with no issues but pump recalibration, but many modern common rail diesels will need new injectors or new fuel pumps much sooner than that.

I noticed that when I passed Pagbilao with my GS and a convoy of SGrandia, naiwan ako.

Yung M/T na GL Grandia palang hindi na makahabol sa GS CVX A/T eh. Matic pa kaya.

Lamang lang ng Super Grandia, made in Japan. Yung interior nga lang dito na tinapos. From captain seats to last row. Pati yung headrest monitors at HU dito na kinabit.

Badge is what's keeping the SG in demand. The dad of a friend of mine is one who goes by the badge. Whatever's Japanese is preferred over Korean. He loves his slow, smoky Crosswind XUV to bits because it's durable, because it's Japanese. This thinking is what's keeping my friend from going the Hyundai route. Though my friend will be buying his next ride, surely he doesn't want to attract his dad's crosshairs especially when the Hyundai breaks down. And by break down, it could be the smallest niggle to massive failure.

True the Super Grandia is very spacious and has a commanding presence. The slab-sided mini-bus dimensions make it physically imposing indeed. But features-wise, the GS is the overall better pick. For a 9 seater it's got a lot of space. For an 11-12 seater, it's not as spacious as the SG.

My mom is planning to get a sg, but she already got a problem. Because me and my brother are refusing to drive it when our often absent driver is not around.
