turbo road Pala ang balak. I agree with the lancer 2.0 Mt. just don't boost too high Para kaya pa daily driven. magnda baseline lancer ex in my opinion.
With the 1.6 ex kaya boost pero ill be on the safe side of .5 boost. bawi na lang sa suspension, breaks, stabilizer bars, and wheels.
sa wheels best to get more traction. thread wear of around 240 would be ideal Para kumapit kahit cornering. draw back is madali maubos goma. If budget permits get original sets of volk with original bolts kasi sa high speed tapos corner madali luluwag bolts kung hindi match mags.
Also don't forget suspension, kung magnda na wheels and walang control sa body roll medyo hindi rin kakapit ng tama. short throw are best in my opinion.
hindi na kasi porma habol, performance na.
edit: low profile is a must with the right psi Para hindi magalaw goma sa corner. wag din sobrsng baba ng series baka mags na tatama sa road. wider tires are also good pero not much of a must.

I don't really like the looks of the 1.3L stock, I've seen what can be done about it though and while dressed up the Jazz looks great it also looks really expensive to get them to look great. The stock intake is much too small to fit an intercooler in if I do go turbo with it..
Irrelevant. It's not like you plan on slapping a turbocharger there without modifying the intake right?
Re: Lancer EX
Although I'm generally not a fan of the 1.6L Lancer, there's cost-savings to factor in too which you can then divert to modifications. I'll still go for the 2.0L and then turbocharge that. Sometimes, nothing beats pure displacement
You'd also want to upgrade your brakes ASAP to take advantage of the added power.
Re: Thread
Personally, I'll cast my vote with a Fiesta. There's a ton of modified Fiesta making rezing-rezing on track days. Aside from being a joy to drive thanks to its stiff suspension, you also have weight reduction savings compared to that of the EX.
Is the Fiesta stiffer than the Mazda? Which is setup for more oversteer? I doubt I can justify the lancer at this point, I've talked to him and he's saying that that's too much because technically it's my first car. But back in the province I've been the family's "driver" ever since I've got my license at 17.
Won't be going for power mods till after board exams. By then the warranty will be expired, and I might be able to DIY a turbo conversion.
In the meantime I'll be saving up for ceramic brake pads, lighter wheels, better tires. I won't be doing lowering springs anytime soon as the car would have to deal with light flooding, speedhumps, and potholes on a day to day basis. Maybe I could do anti-roll bars to stiffen up the rear and make it a bit more lively but that's the extent of what I can do to the suspension.
The Mazda2 would definitely be better for a driver. Haven't drove the Fiesta but the Mazda2's extremely fun to drive. Don't mind the added power on the Fiesta, the weight savings of the Mazda2 definitely shines over it. But as they share the same chassis and specifications come so closely.. I wouldn't worry about among the two has more oversteer. Hell, just get better tires to go with them
But if you start factoring in secondhands, there's a lot more cars you can select from. You can easily buy a RB25DE Skyline with that cash. Sadly, RB26DETTs of R32/3/4s are still pretty expensive. You pay a lot for a quality engine after all but I'm sure any beginner or intermediate gearhead would be happy with just a natural aspirated 2.5 engine doing 255Nm of torque.. on a great platform too.

ahh ok. you can tell you parents that a lancer ex would cost just an additional 50k and you'll get a bigger car, bigger engine, better comfort, lot more interior space, touch screen head unit, and more safety with the abs ebd dual airbag. I think that would make a good selling point for money value.
At this point, just get the new VIOS 1.5L. Have fun with it and worry about the mods in 3 or 4 years down the road.
Having fun with a car isn't just about how much HP you have under the hood. It is how much you can utilize.
I guess I'll have to go see each of the cars in the range and see what I come up with. So far I've been already been to Mazda, Ford, Hyundai, Chevrolet Greenhills, and none of them kept manual transmissioned cars at the dealership so I have no clue what the versions I'll be buying would actually be like. Is buying really like this in Manila? you can't see the car until you're about to buy?
The vios 1.5 is 812k *_*....

Sorry, I did get carried away thinking about the possible mods. Right now I can't help but feel a bit of bias to the Mazda2, However the Fiesta with the same spec is 20k cheaper... Both dealers I've asked would give me a 50k discount, you think I could push it a little more? Considering the 2014 Fiesta is launching this august?
Know the art of haggling. First you try to canvass how much dealerships are willing to give you. This can be as easy as phoning 5-7 dealerships around the metropolis. Personally, I go with the "cash basis" attempt so I know how much I can squeeze from them. Then I go with the "best deal" I found then renegotiate from there. If there's one thing I can tell you is that negotiation attempts shouldn't just take 2 steps. It's a long process wherein both you and the seller should be satisfied. 50K ba gusto nila? Push them for more. Some people do low-blow attempts "gusto ko 90K discount!" then renegotiate from there until they finally settle for something like 65K. Sometimes you can bluff your way, "sabi ng XXX dealership na 70K discount. But since nandito na ako, kaya niyo ba ako bigyan same offer?".
As for my purchase sa Sonata, I used the pressure tactic -> "dala checkbook" -> "bibigyan kita one chance lang to make me an offer. Discuss it with your manager. I'll give you 10minutes."I got a pretty good offer back then from Hyundai Quezon Avenue
the offer was comparable to that of provincial dealerships where it's often cheaper to get a unit.
Most won't put manual transmissions in their showrooms. It's pointless because manual transmission sales nowadays are pretty low unless you're a taxi fleet operator. However, they can and SHOULD be able to schedule you an appointment for a test drive on your selected car variant.
Fiesta. 1.5 MT. 695k Bare.
Buy it. Use it to commute. Learn to drive on it. After a few years, you can have a stripped down 1.5 hatchback for trackdays.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
I agree with this.
What's a 700-hp car if you can't properly drive it.
It's more fun to take a slow car to its limits than take a fast car and make it perform 1/10th of what it can really do.
Start with whatever you choose. Drive it around. Explore its limits, and when you're done with it and you're wanting more, mod it slowly.
