    I agree with this.

What's a 700-hp car if you can't properly drive it.

It's more fun to take a slow car to its limits than take a fast car and make it perform 1/10th of what it can really do.

Start with whatever you choose. Drive it around. Explore its limits, and when you're done with it and you're wanting more, mod it slowly.

Wow mura ah. They're killing the 1.3 Mz2 with this. I feel genuinely sad for Mazda getting slaughtered by the Fiesta.

I know, think I can get a bigger discount by mentioning that?

Is this 1.5MT bare Fiesta, the updated model? With the Aston grille?

The Fiesta though will always be heavier than ANY Mazda 2 variant.

And just how important is that?

    Watch this

Went out to see if I could see actual MT units today...
Tried the Honda City, Vios, Mirage, and Mazda2. I've got to say, the Mazda has a REALLY short shift O_o. Like it has a short shift kit installed. Feel wise it feels a lot like the Honda only the throws are almost half as long as the Honda. The Mirage also matched the Honda but had a slightly longer throw but weirdly the car in the showroom wouldn't slot into 4th or 5th gear even with the clutched in? All three felt notchy in their shift action, it felt like you could really do quick shifts in them. In the Mazda and the Mitsu you can feel the gears sliding into place, like sliding a dead-bolt with that metal against metal kind of feeling. The Vios on the other hand was much smoother, more relaxed in the gearshift, it felt like there was no friction when rowing through the gears, but lacked the precision of the other three somewhat. The Honda was both smooth and precise, balancing the qualities of both.

Price wise Toyota and Mitsu would only give a 10k discount on first asking. Honda would give 25k discout for the city, or GPS and reversing camera for the Jazz. The mazda dealership was different from the one I first inquired in, strangely they won't give any discount :/.

Don't even bother considering the Vios if you're after fun-factor

I'm an owner and though it's light & zippy. It has to be one of the most boring subcompacts I've ever driven.

There's nothing exciting with the Vios, unless I drive it to its limits and think that when I crash I'll probably have a 1/100 chance of leaving the car alive

I've driven a Jazz 1.3S and a City 1.5E but not a Swift nor a Fiesta or a MZ2. The Honda's definitely have the fun factor. How less-fun it is compared to the three (Swift, Fiesta, MZ2) that I'm not sure of

Oh btw if you get the Vios, at least get the 1.5G MT. The 2NZ is just fun at the first two to three gears then it gets boring. At least the 1NZFE has a little more punch than the 1.3

Dropping the Vios then, the 1.5 costs more than the 1.3L City that produces just as much power..

One last note about the Mazda, the shift action feels actually shorter than a 2001 Celica I was looking at a while back.

1.3 City is no match for the 1.5 Vios, no matter what the paper specs say, especially with a manual tranny.

The 1.5 MT Vios, if I'm not mistaken, can tail a VGT Montero.

Anong nangyari sa sinasabi niyo last time na...
Having fun with a car isn't just about how much HP you have under the hood. It is how much you can utilize.

Mazda/Fiesta na siguro kukunin ko. if the price is right ^^.

Probably, we were doing 100 on a 2 lane road xD. Still, parang bao yung 1.3L ng City under 3k RPM xD. Walang torque talaga, kahit normal traffic nahirapan na magovertake. non-VTEC tapos walang kahit VVT. Rated at 100 ps pa yung engine nun :/ pero lahat nasa 5-6k RPM halos hindi mo magamit.

Turbodiesel maka max power lang kapag nakaspool yung turbo. Kahit yung Hyundai CRDi ngayon may lag pa minsan kahit variable geometry turbo.

It's not probably. It's definitely easy driving.

I'm scratching my head here on how VTEC's supposed to help you overtake vehicles in EDSA where most vehicles are running at 21km/h lang or something. Honda's VTEC system is simply like having two profiles for a car: Low RPM and High RPM and your ECU simply switches over to the other depending on engine load. Hell, I think of it as simply "economy" and "high power". I would understand the use of VTEC in tracks wherein you can freely take advantage of the high-RPM.. not so in metropolitan traffic.

The I-DSI engine of the 1.3L City was engineered to reach its peak torque at mid-RPMs making it a very economical vehicle engine in city driving.

Most turbos will have lag unless they're properly designed to combat turbo-lag. If I experience turbo lag from something like a 800K accent, I can understand that a bit. But if I'll be experiencing turbo lag in a 6-series BMW, that's on a whole another matter.

Most turbodiesels work very efficiently naman thanks to the low-end torque of diesel engines. Look at the LC200 wherein peak torque of 600lbs is achieved at a puny 2,000RPM or something (I took this from memory, kung mali, kindly correct).
