Flood/Water Clearance of MPVs/AUVs ?

Ano po ang may pinakamataas na water clearance:

• Isuzu Crosswind
• Toyota Innova
• Toyota Avanza
• Chevy Spin
• Mitsubishi Adventure

i have seen an adventure fording floods hood deep(even saw one that floated and still the engine was running and the guy who was driving it used his rear wheels as paddles and the steering as guide- saw this one in ust a couple of years ago) same with montero and strada

toyota avanza - no(ondoy)
innova- no(ondoy)
crosswind same old school engine- i guess?
also seen a isuzu dmax ford floods hood deep level

The Crosswind, Adventure and Innova have fender-type intakes that will allow you to ford water that is almost hood deep. The Crosswind XUV has the highest clearance of the three. The difference amongst the three is that in the Adventure and Crosswind, if you leave the car to sit in a flood, there's less electricals and electronics to wreck.

The Avanza has a grille scoop. And it's lower.

The Spin, nobody has a Spin, yet. But it'll be lower.

The level of flood you can ford in a Crosswind or Adventure is stupid. Stupid meaning that if you ford the deepest flood that they can cross, you are in danger of wrecking the entire car ( alternator shorting, compressor gumming up, fuse boxes soaked, interiors destroyed, etcetera).

Just because you technically can does not mean you should. Always remember that.

This is something that matters indeed! It's nice to know you have flood fording capabilities but the best is to avoid.

To answer the Q, i'd put my money on the Crosswind or Advie... wala namang ASBU pag bumabaha siguro.

BTW, even if it is only 12 to 18 inches, unloaded or lightly loaded AUVs maybe swept off the road by fast flowing water.

Flood fording capability is a nice to know. Pero just like what I tell people, kung kaya naman umiwas sa baha, umiwas na.

Anyway, I'll put my money on the Crosswind and on the Adventure. Then the Innova. Lastly, the Avanza then the Spin. Old school kasi yung dalawang nauna, feel ko mas konti masisira if ever bahain talaga compared sa Innova.

Avanza and Spin ang liit naman. Obviously wala kang laban. Kung afford mo din naman, sama mo na Everest and Ranger.

Parked the truck up on the curb, safe from the water. Tried going down the street (had to check on other property)... only thigh deep, far below the intake, but the current and the large number of pedestrians made it difficult. Couldn't keep up enough speed behind them to stay off the clutch, and the buffetting from the waves was starting to stall the engine and soak the transmission. Had to abort.

You gotta know when to hold them...
