good pm. newbie sa forums although matagal nang lurker since passion ko din ang cars. hehe.

our current ride is a nissan terrano jdm (a/t, diesel, a fun to ride pag paakyat ng tanay dirtroads). nakapag-drive na din ako ng isuzu crosswind for quite a long time. natuto ako mag drive using a '89 lancer and a '95 fx (previous owned by us). will be getting my student's license sa birthday ko.

question.. sabi ni erpats bibilhan nya ako ng kotse by the time i turn 18.. since first ride ko ito (at di ko alam kung magkano budget nya hehehehe) i'll be giving a "optimistic" budget of 150k. now, ano kaya magandang ride? i know magiging "school bus" ako ng mga blockmates ko lolz. siguro a corolla bigbody or a sentra? no idea with the models though. could someone enlighten me please? thanks a lot.

*150K, pwede na sentra dyan. Scout ka na lang for the best condition possible. This is the most practical choice.

Pero if it was me, I would buy a Honda Civic EG 2 door. Its going to be a work in progress pero it would be a fun car.

    Here's one:

With a budget of 150k, you cannot buy a bigbody corolla nor an eg civic. Yes, the unit does fit your 150, but what about the repairs, the regs etc. ? Think about it, if you could stretch your 150k budget to a perhaps 200k ( 50k allotted for repairs ) then you'll be safe.

It's a car that's more than a decade. It won't be problem free, there will be still repairs ... depends if it's minor or otherwise.

The Civic EG is a fun car, small and mods are everywhere. You can choose an EG with a b16a slapped in or yet with a b18c. With those engine slapped in the vehicle, you get to enjoy the car. Performance, looks etcetera.

However, downside with that facts that the EG's engine is replaced is ... it could have been raced already. Stressed out engines could lead to a much bigger problem = much costly repairs. But if you're sure that those engines are in it's top-notch condition then, you'll have a fun time driving it. Especially when you hit the VTEC zone. :naughty2:

Choose wisely brother. Buying a car doesn't stop from the purchase of the unit itself. Repairs, reg.'s, mods etc. will come by your way anytime.

sentra what year/model sir? may nag suggest sakin i'll buy a cheapo model na sariwa daw and do mods like ae92 or a kia pride, watcha think?

Your best option at the limited budget you have would be the early 90s Corolla 1.6L (AE89 chassis code)

It is still possible to find them in good running condition but since it is already nearly 20 years old, expect to do some repairs and maintenance on the unit you would be purchasing.

Ganun talaga yun dati kasi may image yung Nissan na kalampagin, yung sina unang mga box type nila. Pero kahit nag improve na yun parin ang perception. I consider it a blessing to 2nd buyers.

Kaya nga sabi ko about the EG na work in progress yan. You could buy the unit but may repairs. I've been looking around for an EG before and surprisingly, there are some that sell at 140-150K pure stock. Maghahanap ka nga lang.

I would say nga Sentra is a good car for you. You could even buy an LEC PS 1998 or less in very very good condition.

Forget the Civic EF. It's old and parts are rare ( Ithink? )

Opt for the EG or yet, the EK ( 200k++ )

nagdaan din ako diyan sa "first year and first car"

eto mga tips or suggestion ko bro based from my experience.

1.) go with the best fuel consumption. mas matipid sa gas mas marame kang mapupuntahan, mas marame money sa wallet. trust me been there and still there. suggestion ko, 1st gen vios or 9th gen altis? since na "optimistic 150k" ang budget mu, pwede naman maging "vissionary 250k-300k".

why vios or 9th gen altis?

better FC, not that old, torquey at low rpm range which is good for heavy traffic at the metro,

2.) wag ka na mag suv kung budget ka sa fuel expense. in my case, my first vehicle was a 2003 escape. nak ng p..... 500 ko na pang gas two days lang. im from malabon and sa feu ako nagstudy before (27-40km a day why? may kasama pang gala). araw araw heavy traffic. diyos ko po! i remember those lunch-less days para lang may pang gas. wala nang natira pang gimik.

pero kung afford mu, then go.

3.) avoid hauling people kung naka kotse ka.an average sedan seats 5 peeps, not 7-11 people. yes, 11 people. ive done it once with an average of 5'7, 150lbs blockmates of mine. nagsisisisi ako till now.

feel free to question my post.

    my two cents

    1. medyo tight chief.. sabay kasi kami college ni brad ngayon. saka wala pang budget na binibigay, so i settled for a "modest" 150k.

    2. sa gas.. well ok lang since may gas slips si erpats for being in the afp, no problemo :fire:

    3. sa 'school bus' thingy, yung pasasakayin ko lang eh yung mga kapit-bahay ko.. since sa south super hway yung college ko medyo mahirap transpo.. sabi nila they'd share the load on gasoline expenses.

    ==

thanks sa insights and experiences. more pa! hehehe. para iwas-sakit ng ulo na din sakin

    1. you can never say about the budget. as per my experience. the budget was to stick with a corolla small body. 270k. e nakita ng ermats ko yung escape which is 650k high, nakuha namen ng 560k. hehe malay mu naman. itodo mu na yan pagiging optimistic mo.

    2. about sa gas slips. medyo disagree ako diyan. afp ba kamo? diba pera ng taong bayan yun? hehe sorry for being a critic. hehe anyways, same with me, my mom has a gas allowance too, reimbursement ang kalakalan. but you can never rely on these gas slips. may mga instances na need mu na magpagas kaso wala pa yung gas slips/allowance. yari na.bad part was twice or 3 times ako naubusan ng gas sa escape, and kahit P50 wala akong panggas hehe need to call somebody to fetch me and tow my car at a nearby gas station.

    3. for the school service thingy... minsan ok lang maging maramot. hehe i hope totoohanin ng blockmates mu yan na magshashare sila sa fuel expense. as for me, natututo na ko.

oh, additional vehicle suggestion. adventure or crosswind. why? pwede na din ipampasada! ahaha gagawin ka lang din service ng blockmates mu, itodo mo na. certified people hauler (7 seater up). tipid sa konsumo (8kml for a 2.5 dsl engine) and lower fuel cost (P35? diesel vs 44 gas). but your budget must be around 300k up.
