Corolla. We had this year model (though GLi). Sobrang dami and cheap parts nito hanggang ngayon.

Get the corolla XL5 if you find one. This is an excellent car build quality, spare parts supply and fuel efficiency. If you find the steering too heavy, you can always get a power steering add-on in Banaue for around 5-8k.

XL5 has basically the same tranny as the XL4 albeit with an overdrive(5th gear). it should be more economical.

mataas pa rin ang resale ng corolla small body after more than 15 yrs na yung model. still difficult to get one below 80K

In 1989 I drove home a brand new silver Corolla XL 4 speed from Toyota Bel Air for my in laws, at the time it was a CKD unit. In 1991 I bought a white one for myself (SKD), I just added bodyside moldings and a nice emblem for the grill. I loved that car!

Now it's with a cousin, still trouble free.

i still have my sentra 89 1.3 sampaloc type way back home. never akong tinirik kahit sa baha ng buendia. sobrang luwag ng engine compartment kaya gustong-gusto ng mekaniko pag nagpapakalikot ako sa kanila... hehehe... still in good condition, sobra tipid pa din sa gas. but i dont recommend you look for 1 kasi medyo mahirap na maghanap ng sariwang sentra 89 1.3, kaya tulad ng iba i also recommend LEC ok ang makina, interchangable kahit pang S3 lagay mo pwede. matibay na ang pangilalim pero comfort din ang ride.
