late 90's model of this car sells for only 50K tapos all power, bakit masyadong mababa parang presyo na ng owner jeep, good buy ba ang car na ito

Because it's a Daewoo. When Daewoo collapsed, parts became harder to find. They're available, yes, but I personally don't know where. You could probably ask the LTO or police where they get parts for theirs.

Besides that, the design is based on old Opel technology, and some of those cars they copied weren't exactly the most reliable ever built (Espero anyone... ), so the cars developed quite a number of problems... thus, even though Mazda's dealerships also collapsed in the 90's, not even their prices are as low as Daewoos... because Mazdas are at least of average reliability, and are easier to maintain than Daewoos.

I'd say never EVER EVER buy an old Daewoo... pero kawawa naman ang mga may-ari na nagbebenta... :hysterical: ...my Dad has one on blocks by his house... :hihihi: ...they're trying to restore it now.

Most people have given up trying to find parts for their Daewoos, or mechanics who know how to maintain them, so most are selling them "as is" as scrap or for parts. Sad, really...

Try mo sumakay sa daewoo racer na taxi (kung meron pa) at interviewhin mo yung driver in terms of maintenance and consmption. Tanung mo na rin yung mga sakit ng ulo niya sa daewoo niya. hehe!

hehe ganun pala. muntik pa naman kami bumili ng espero dati. but daewoo still makes cars diba? ang transfarm lang ang nagsara. tama ba? kasi the optra and spark are same as nubira and matiz.

Daewoo is under GM. Yes, they make the Optra, Spark, Aveo, etc.

The Racer is the old Vectra if I recall right. You can run them on Opel parts. But considering the prices of Opel parts, baka mas mahal pa yung total cost ng parts and labor to restore kesa sa kotse mismo.

Hmmm...wasn't it an Astra? Thought the Espero was the Vectra based one.

Either way, yeah, parts are crazy. I've seen many a Daewoo stuffed in the back of a repair shop garage because they couldn't find the parts (many mechanics don't get the Daewoo = old Opel thing).

nung kasikatan pa ng daewoo racer nakasakay na ako dyan. malamig yung aircon kaso super mag vibrate yung dashboard!

nag karoon kami ng ganayn dati ok naman sya1 ok ang power, fuel consumption at matibay naman sya mga 4 yrs sya samin wala naman ganong binigay na sakit ng ulo! ilang beses sya na byahe ng bagyo ok naman napapaabot pa namin ng 170kph! grabe bugbog inabot nung daewoo namin pinaskawal ko pinapa burn out ko tapos tumaob pa un once pero ok parin! bow ako skanya un nga lang nahihiya ako makita ng mga frends ko na un gamit ko hehehe.....

hmm... lets face the fact mahirap tlga hanapan ng parts ung daewoo... in my experience mauubos tlga pera mo sa pag hhanap ng parts at good mechanic pero years have pass madami ako nakitang mga bilihan at suki ng parts hehe... pero skit tlga ng ulo ung aircon hirap ksi hanapan ng parts kung meron man ang mahal grabe! kya hannggang ngyn ala pa ito aircon hekhek pero ung performance naman ng car ok naman ksi i have daewoo espero (DOHC 16v) and racer(gti 1.5v SOHC) pero para sakin astig tlga ung hila ng racer ang bilis kya cguro tinawag na racer nyahaha
tps mas comfortable sakyan ung espero pag dumaan aq sa humps parang wla lng di masyodo masakit sa pwet unlike other cars hehe (no nid to name them) any way un lang masasabi ko.. kng may tanung kyo abt those cars try ko sagutin hehe

ung tito ko may ganyan, sakit daw sa ulo ung aircon kaya hanggang ngayon wala pa din aircon. heheh

ung samin wala problem sa aircon, kasi alam ko pina convert ni erpats ercon nun ng pang nissan at nde ko lang sure bsta sobra lamig

maganda rin ang daewoo lalo racer at espero, nagkaroon ako niyan, hanep sa tulin at malamig ang aircon,york ang compressor niya, nung nasira ang aircon,pinalitan ko ng sanden, dami na rin nasira, kasi nga taxi.. nasira ang compressor, alternator, water pump. front axle, pero ang daewoo ko lumalangoy sa malalalim na baha. pati pala bumper nya, matindi. binangga ako ng bus, yung harapan ko buo. wala nangyari, yung bus kupi sa gilid. pati na makina niyan ok, opel, madami rin nabibilan pa ng piyesa niya. tingin ko lang.

Slap it with an Opel badge... para hindi na Daewoo.

Or keep the Daewoo badge, slap the Lotus Carlton's underpinnings and powertrain.

OK naman ang Racer basta alagaan lang. Our Racer is about 10years old, ok pa din ang andar. Maluwag din ang legroom ng rear passengers.

Don't expect much though sa interior nya like the dashboard, etc.

Actually, kahit anong tsikot, not just the Daewoo Racer, basta inalagaan tatagal. Nasa gumagamit din yan eh. Parang yung kapitbahay ni Carlo, naka 3 series na BMW pero laspag na laspag against dun sa kapit bahay ko na naka Kia Pride (ex-taxi) na ang ganda ganda pa rin (stock na stock)! In fact, maganda pa yung condition ng Pride sa Lancer namin eh! Kakahiya! hehehe!

Can anyone tell me the type of battery I need to buy for a daewoo racer gti? I am assuming that the problem is with the battery since the headlights, horn and radio won't work anymore. Thanks.

actually baliktad ito. i have a friend who owns an opel vectra. ang ginagawa nya dahil sobrang mahal nga ng parts ng opel vectra, is naghahanap sya ng parts ng daewoo racer para sa vectra nya.... hehehehehe.
