which one is better assuming they have the same price?

what are the inherent issues that appears on a GLI?

is the XE more fuel efficent than the old GLI?

The GLI has power windows, power locks ,power steering and a bigger engine displacement. While the XE only has power steering and a 1300 engine.

IMO the GLI is the better choice if fuel efficiency is not an issue.

actually ayaw ko kase ng GLI, ang gusto ko talaga XE or XL since i'm just a new driver and 1st car ko yan..

baka kase mahirapan ako sa maintenance ng GLI since marami at kumplikado ang wiring nito di po ba? tapos 13 year old na.. based from what i know, may computer chip ito at pag iyon ang nasira (eg nalublub sa baha) e mahal ang replacement, around 40k pesos ata..

nagkataon lang na meron akong kakilala na binibenta yung GLI 94 nya sa akin at a really cheap price, kulang na lang e repaint at konting pukpok sa dent.. so should i take this car na binibenta nya? or just go and find an XE or XL?

xe na lang since this is your first car. mas papahalagahan mo fuel consumption dahil ang mahal na ng fuel and first time driver ka pa lang.

Tempting nga naman considering they are both offerred at same price...

Or better yet get the GLI, pa-ayos mo konti yung exteriors and other stuffs, then benta mo (current pricing is around 150-180)..hehe! kumita ka pa, by then you will have enough money to choose newer model.

    Again, its only me!

    Goodluck on your decision.

yep the gli is being offered like the price of an XL pa nga..

pero there is a catch..wala na atang masyadong hatak pag sa initial gear (stop-1st gear-2nd gear) so may parang kinabit daw sya na device para mabilis uli ang arangkada..

    ok pa ba ito?

if ever pwede bang papalitan ng carb engine itong efi ng gli para tipid sa gas?how much kaya abutin?

All else being equal, hands down go for the GLi. Fuel economy? Right now, kahit na sobrang init (heat soak), and having a busted cylinder head gasket, I still manage to get 9 km/L city, 10-11/km/L highway sa GLi ko.

Pero not everything is equal. Get the car that's in better condition.

A year ago, I was in the same position you were in. I don't regret it at all, mahal na mahal ko oto ko.

Basta, bilin mo yung mas ok ang condition between the two.

Anyway if you want more info (shameless plug) punta ka sa Club AE at www.clubae.proboards104.com. I'm sure marami pang ibang makakatulong sa'yo jan.

Yikes. That's a scary problem. forget about that car.

Tipid din naman ang efi. I dont think you can change efi to carb without some crazy modifications.

baka nilagyan ng khaos-like device.. stay away from the gli. engine replacements are not the way to go if you're on a budget and you don't know your way around the engine, mapapagastos ka lang ng todo.

pag tumanda at hindi rin maganda ang pag maintain sa mga 1300cc carbs... lumalakas din sa gas yan. we once had a badly maintained Corolla XE acquired 2nd hand and it's only returning a very poor 6km/l.

for that, wala pa kme power windows, locks, side mirrors, Go POWER etc that are found in the Corolla GLi.
