Yes the Montero has lost its dominance because it's no longer competing against the lackluster Alterra and decade-old Everest. The new generations from Isuzu and Ford are definitely miles better than their predecessors which is why their sales numbers are up, at the expense of the Montero which has drawn polarizing opinions compared to the model it replaced. That said, at the end of the day, more new Monteros have been sold compared to the same period last year.

Yes they could've kept the old Montero and taken on the market for ancient vehicles (currently lorded by the Crosswind). But remember, they were selling that at huge discounts. I'd rather maintain the same sales volume but at better margins than sell more with compressed margins.
