Gaano katipid? Other owners are not so happy about the consumption.
Anyway, for daily driving, go for ESi, and I suggest taking out the mudguards and putting a rear spoiler (duck tail preferrably). A racing filter upgrade would also be nice.
About the rust problem, this Civic model is prone to it. Check the roof and fenders as these are where it usually develops.

i suggest you buy the later manufactured models, late 94 to 95. we have 94 civic lx, obtained 95. never had rust problems sa fender and sa roof, pasalamat nga ako. orig paint pa rin. earlier this month, i brought it to wetlook for an estimate for a washover. si mr raul tuazon ata yung tumingin, hinanap agad yung mga bukol/bula sa roof, wala siya makita, tanong nya: "dito ba pininturahan to?" nagulat nung sinabi kong orig pa, ganda pa raw, ok pa yung oto kintab pa... considering its black! di ko na muna pinahilamusan. maganda pa daw eh... hehehe
