Among the current pickups offered in local market today, the frontier rates last for me in terms of driveability, engine power, fuel economy (comparing its AT variant with the new technology ATs), ride comfort, design, ...hhmmm pretty much everything. And I'd still choose the old design strada over the current frontier for practical reasons.

The new strada is no smoke belcher. The old one had some issues in smoke belching but is easily remedied thru proper PMS. Nothing beats the legendary 4d56 IMO.

IMO not equipping the 3.2L AT frontier with a turbo is the biggest mistake of Nissan Motors. What the heck are they thinking???

Sometimes we have to move on and admit that previous engines and vehicle design for that matter is gonna be replaced by newer more economical and more fun to drive ones.

    PEACE

For me, best bang for buck is the Dmax 4x4 LS. Rock solid engine and chassis.

The current torque bigboy now is the Ranger which has gotten more praises than the new Strada.
