December 30th, 2019 04:20 PM #4101PPVs are aspirational for diehard fanboys. Pag meron sila ng brand X, everything else is inferior. Sa FB car groups, pag may nag post ng PPV nila katabi ibang brand, bash party na sa comments. They have to reassure themselves they made the right purchase. You see a few sensible opinions but these are few and far between.
Same with smartphones, kung may iphone or samsung si fanboy, yun ang pinaka maganda, automatic pangit na agad hawak ng katabi.
Terming this phenomenon eludes me, something to do with fanboyism entitlement. Prevalent in our culture, and very toxic.

Dami talaga fanboys sa ‘Pinas. Everyone needs to reassure themselves that what they bought is better than the rest.
There are still a few who have an objective view on the choices available in the market. As popular PPVs may be but I am not one who is among the wave of people who adore them. These lumbering trucks are just too big for a family of three.

December 30th, 2019 05:34 PM #4104even the most objective review is biased, because the human behind it is... human.
the most objective review always ends with the (written or un-written) "try it, folks, and see for yourselves".Last edited by dr. d; December 30th, 2019 at 06:05 PM.

December 30th, 2019 07:47 PM #4107Innova is the perfect compromise I think if one needs a people hauler. Great engine. Not too low, not too high. More interior space than PPVs. Third row is made for humans, not hobbits. More comfortable ride without too much wallowing. Enough clearance to wade through gutter-deep water.
Thing is, if Toyota made the Innova a looker, people would think twice getting a 4x2 Fortuner. That's understandable, SUVs are higher-margin products.

December 30th, 2019 07:48 PM #4108If budget is not an issue with you,I would go for the fort. As it is,the market price for 2nd hand montero and fort has a difference of at least 100k for same year models with similar specifications.
Both SUVs are really good looking and got good time tested engines and lots of aftermarket parts and accessories. If you are looking for an a/t,take the fort for peace of mind (SUA issues connected with monteros, although there was no conclusive findings).
But if you are looking for a m/t SUV,then taking any of the two will be a great choice...it all boils down to your budget and aesthetic appreciation.
Me,I decided to acquire a second hand 2013 m/t montero as I am more familiar with mitsus (where to take it for troubleshooting,PMS etc) and for budgetary reasons.

December 30th, 2019 10:10 PM #4109I owned a Montero 2014 MT for 4 years and have ridden friends Fortuner as well.
Fortuner is really matagtag. If you or your passengers are sensitive to headache, dizziness or bodyache, you should consider the Montero.
In my opinion, Toyota Fortuner is better only in having a newer, slightly smoother engine.

It's looking a lot like a certain cruiser with that color scheme.
