Tama lang naman sa midnight sila tumakbo. Imaging the added 70+ cars sa rush hour. Puro reklamo mga tao nyan. Comparison lang kung anong mas ok na car

as i understood it, the test was designed to compare relative fuel efficiencies of the various cars, driven under the the exactsame conditions.

Did you see the road map? Who drives 300km * 80kph in wee hours?

Thats why i prefer jc08 and adr and epa numbers for vehicles. Their testing methodology includes city fuel consumption. Not as slow as our traffic though. Still a better gauge than this rather unrealistic eco run. Interesting nonetheless.

A Tesla would have completed this eco run without any fuel.

well, they could have given out the cars for the drivers to use for a week. then, exchange cars for a week, and then so on and so forth...
afterwards, they can report on the figures.
not perfect, but... what method is?

The best way to compare like to like is to have a set course with set acceleration markers, stop markers and speeds. Very difficult to achieve equivalent acceleration in real life... as different cars react differently to the same amount of pedal pressure... and cars also have different transmission algorithms. The best you can actually do is to run the cars on a dyno and then add in corrections for wind and tire resistance, as the EPA does it... but that is very, very expensive and time-consuming.

And then add in the cost of retrofitting fuel cells temporarily to make sure fuel use is accurately measured.

I mean, we have the knowhow and equipment to do it here... but how would you get the manufacturers to pay the costs of testing?

    Me.

While I do sometimes drive faster, if I'm not late for a meeting and I don't really have a set arrival time, I do drive 80 km/h on the NLEX. Sometimes when we are doing an event at Clark or Subic, I will drive a steady 70-80 all the way home via SCTEX-NLEX-SLEX.

Great way to save money... I've gotten over 30 km/l by doing so... of course, I do spend extra on energy drinks to keep awake... but still...

is this really possible? grabe katipid halos lahat especially Dmax sa test na ito. pero manila to La union madaling araw na byahe ko ilang beses narin nlex - sctex - tplex parang hindi kaya yong ganyang DOE results vs sa claim ng Car manufacturer vs sa results ng car owners?

It's possible but requires conditions like no traffic and low top speed.

They probably could have achieved those numbers even with 150km. They just made more pollution

I suppose we can say that this is the best case scenario gas mileage one can get from a certain car.

From here we can see that the manuals still consistently top their automatic or CVT counterparts in gas mileage despite many of them actually having less gears.
And then again, the diesels don't seem to have an advantage in achieving more km/L over the gasoline... I wonder why?

I'd love to see a city test run. Worst case scenario testing naman.

150km for a car that does 25 km/L will consume only 6L of gas. Volume that small is prone to fill-up variability. Sumobra lang ng 0.3L yung karga, magiging 23.8 km/L nalang computed FC niyan.

Which is why I always advise to use up at least 10L of gas for a trip, let the car settle a bit before filling it up, and always fill up at the same stations (or at least in stations with similar dispensers).

Gas fed engines are very efficient when it comes to continuous highway running. However, they take a big hit in terms of fuel economy when driven hard, and also when stuck in traffic.

On the other hand, diesel vehicles don't have as large a variability in consumption regardless of traffic/driving conditions, which is why diesels are consistently better in traffic vs similarly-sized gas engines.

The D-Max is the most fuel-efficient in its class but by this much isn't too believable. Results shouldn't be too far off the MU-X with same engine. Manual and lighter body will result in more efficiency but probably by 2-3 km/l only.

Kaka gulat ang D-Max. Mirage 1.2L MT mas malakas uminom ng gasolina kesa 1.6L MT Elantra??
