Between LPG and Diesel? I'll go for diesel, kasi eventually tataas din ang LPG pag malaki na ang demand plus kung LPG, IMO you need to allocate space inside your car or trunk for the tank and re-fill station are very few, esp. in the province.

Although given na tataas din ang LPG, there will always be a price difference between the two.

Depends, LPG is still a socially sensitive commodity so I don't think the government will let the price of LPG float too much beyond the price percentage difference against gasoline/diesel within the last 3 years.
And even if LPG prices do rise, I think it would still be cheaper than gasoline.

Yes you are correct, but if your ride is avanza, innova, fuzion, carens, etc.. which do you prefer to be installed inside your car? the spare tire or the lpg tank? this is the main problem of having an lpg engine; (OT) that is why the trend now is hybrid engine. LPG engine is not being push that much by carmakers unlike the hybrid. LPG lang ang way para makatipid ang gas engine nowadays.

Having an auto-LPG tank fitted in your vehicle doesn't mean you have to sacrifice the spare tire. All you have to do is place the spare tire inside the vehicle which the LPG tank is placed where the spare tire used to be. Not even a problem to start with. If you don't like seeing the spare tire inside the vehicle, just place a tarp or wheel cover to hide it from plain sight.
It also saves the spare tire from getting stolen in some instances where thieves steal the spare wheel from under the AUV.

A web-zine's (http://www.bigbigcar.com) comparison (during late 2007) of the operating cost of a Toyota Prius vs a Ford Focus turbo diesel showed it is just the same given both vehicles were driven through the same traffic conditions in Metro Manila.
A hybrid car gives the owner a false sense of saving money because it would take at least 8 to 10 years of operating the hybrid vehicle for it to recoup the vehicle's price premium against it's so-called fuel saving ability.
In a test by Fifth Gear (UK automotive TV show), they drove a Toyota Prius in a test track for ten laps. It was followed by an unmodified BMW M3 sedan with the instructions to the driver to simply keep pace with the Prius. At the end of the ten laps, the BMW M3 consumed LESS fuel than the Prius.
A hybrid car might make sense at first but when real world factors are included, the initial advantages of the hybrid vehicle suddenly gets smaller and smaller until it is just another expensive gadget filled vehicle on the road.Last edited by ghosthunter; June 25th, 2008 at 09:53 AM.

17km/l at 51 pesos/L na Diesel? 1785pesos to give you a range of 595kms bet. fill-ups
14km/l at 58 pesos/L na Petrol? 2030pesos 490kms range
or
14km/l at 31 pesos/L na LPG? 1085pesos 490kms range
Parang sa case ng Getz mas ok ang 1.1L LPG combo para makatipid. The higher initial cost ng CRDi variant seems to not save you that as much.
that makes it

Kung bibili ka rin ng brand new gasoline-fed car, for LPG conversion, tama si GH. Make sure na bumili kayo nung casa-approved. For example, bili ka ng Vios, tapos converted sa Macro. Or Grand Livina tapos ipa-certify mo yung conversion. Tipid ka na talaga dyan!
Ang Chery Cowin is also sold with LPG as stock.

June 25th, 2008 05:06 PM #29another way to look at it would be:
diesel 17 kms / 51 pesos = 3 peso per km
gas 14 kms / 58 pesos = 4.14 peso per km
lpg 14 kms / 31 pesos = 2.21 peso per km
With the CRDI variant being 100,000 pesos more expensive, it does not look attractive. While you may have to spend say 40,000 for an lpg kit, it should pay for itself within 20,000 or so kms.
