Don't expect too much in terms of performance with either cars, unless you opt for the 2.0L versions. The compact cars these days are getting bigger and heavier but engine output are still within 120hp. The 2.0L models offer better power-to-weight ratio at 150+hp for a small increase in weight (1300+ kg). The Civic FB 1.8S offers good power output for its weight (140hp * 6300 rpm, 177 Nm * 4300 rpm, 1228 kg).
If you want a more sporty ride for less price, go with the Fiesta Ecoboost (125hp * 6000 rpm, 170 Nm * 1400-4500 rpm, 1135 kg).

Between the 2, I would get the Corolla Altis 1.6V. Sa Mazda 3 lineup only the DOS LITROS is I think worth getting (pero mahal).Kung yung 1.5 lang, wag na lang bitin...

I have not driven both but based on the figures provided, as both cars are about the same in weight, the Altis offers higher output (122hp vs 112hp) but the Mazda3 gets it max torque earlier (3500 rpm vs 5200 rpm). However, in normal driving conditions, we barely hit the 5k rpm mark unless we floor that pedal in a highway. 3500 rpm can be easily reached with short spurts. All these boil down on how well you feel the car in a test drive. Go try them out first before deciding on buying one.

August 11th, 2014 12:14 PM #7There's a Comparo Review between these two cars in Top Gear Magazine June issue.
They picked the Mazda 3 1.5V as the winner.
They actually find that the 1.5V variant more enjoyable to drive than the 2.0S without the i-stop start/stop function.
And there's no stability control in Toyota Altis, only ABS.
Personally, I will pick the Mazda 3 over the Toyota Altis.

^^^ You're saying to get the Altis because it's a Toyota and then suggest a Ford?
