At the level of "performance" of these two cars, it doesn't really matter if the engines are DOHC or SOHC.

    3. Is V-tec just a marketing term for VVTI?
    Generally they have similar functions/features.

    4. Minimum turning ratio? What does it mean? Jazz boasts of 5.2 while swift has 4.7mm?
I think that should be "minimum turning radius" which would be 5.2METERS vs 4.7METERS. It means how small a circle each car can make. A smaller radius means better turning ability in tight spaces.

5.The suzuki guy said something that made me wonder, and I quote, "do you really want to drive a car than everyone else has?" The jazz is a looker now, but after 3-4 months on the market, I bet I would already see it on a daily basis. And so my question goes, Would those things take away the "fun" in the long run? Swift has been there since 2005 and up to now it's not everyday that you see one.. (or atleast my part of the metro - makati, manila, bay city, laspinas)
And it can be thrown back at him, why do people DON'T buy the Swift as compared to other popular choices? (Jazz, City, Vios, Picanto, etc) Is it better casa service, branding, vehicle durability, style, economy, etc.

Being different is okay if you can afford being different. It is another thing to be practical in one's choices as well as this will be your car to drive everyday for the next many long years to come.

It's really up to you whether you want a Jazz or a Swift. I think the popularity of the car in question shouldn't come into the equation... Simply ask yourself: "which one do I really want?" and "which one would I feel better about when I see it in the driveway every morning?"

I think Swift would be a reasonable choice for you...

    Hi guys!

Thank you so much for all your inputs! All your thoughts have been really helpful.

I already bought a car. and Ironically, its neither the swift or the jazz.

Its a Ford Focus 2.0 Petrol sport.

I hope you guys also think I made a right choice.

I just got the car today and drove it home.

    My observations are as follows:

    1. Ang ganda ng handling
    2. The ride comfort is much better than my kuyas civic
    3. its power features are very much high end
    4. its surprisingly faster than my kuyas civic
    5. mejo complicated gamitin yung aircon lol
    6. mejo malalim yung break.. pero its almost unnoticeable
    7. the triptronic feature takes a little of getting used to
    8. ganda nung noise insulation.
    9. well built.parang safe na safe ka sa kapal ng feeeling mo when youre inside the car
    10. is it just me or is this hatch an eyecatcher? or baka dahil wala lang tint car ko? hehe

Now my only worry truth be told is the fuel efficiency. Pwede ko ba kargahan ng e10? sabi kasi nung seller hindi daw advisable ang e10 kasi dpat daw high octane?

before buying it i am execting 7-7.5 city driving. halos lahat ng tinanungan ko yan kasi ang sagot.is that excusable for a 2.0 car??

enjoy ako sa focus hatch. ang sarap sumakay. hehe

petron's e10 is a RON95, im sure pwede yan sa Focus mo.

and yeah, it's not only you, i love the looks of the focus hatch!!! kung nde lang issue ang pera sa akin, eh yan sana ang binili ko pero yung diesel ang trip ko since concern ko rin ang FC. maganda nga handling nyan pero surprisingly, mas mabilis sya sa civic? sa straight line kasi i dont think kaya ng focus yung Civic(same 2L engine head to head ha)

congrats on your new baby! drive safely

    Hahahaha, sobra fickle minded ha.

Ford Focus Petrol is a good choice, although if i were in your shoes, I would've gone for the better looking facelifted Focus TDCI (which addresses your main concern, fuel economy and power at the same time).

less than 100k lang kasi difference nila.

Oh well, ok lang yan. Importante meron. haha.

Palagyan mo na lang yan ng Supercharger or Turbo para worth it ang 2.0L nya.

More units running means more units sold which would equate to more parts availability in the long term.
