I am torn between which model to choose ...

Big Body 1995 has 154k mileage and was previously own by a Military man who was always assigned to other places. the 2nd owner is a University Instructor which took very good care of the car but still always used as an home to office car which explains its low mileage.. The other 1995 Big Body has an 80k plus mileage also and well taken care of ...

The 2nd Big Body is a 1997 model and has a 200k mileage because it was always used as a daily commuters car so it greatly contributes on the mileage of the car ...

Both has very good condition ... The only problems is the mileage .. can someone help me choose which one should I get ... I'm partial to the 1997 because its newer and I like the updated steering wheel and the updated dash board ..

Actually, yung 97 model hindi naman high mileage if you try to average the mileage since the car is almost 20 years old, it comes out to a little over 10,000km a year.

i am assuming that yung green one is the one owned by the professor..... that would be my choice... alaga ng maayos kamo eh...
but then, inspect mo din maigi and check mo for problems like leaks, overheating, etc.....

Actually pag luma na matakaw din sa gas yun 1300, halos pareho lang sa GLI, in some cases mas matipid pa ang GLI compared to XE/XL

the XE 1300 cc variant i think, consumes more gas than the 1.6 GLi variant.
suggestion din sa TS, baka you may also want to consider the 91-92 small body variant na GL. yung sobra sa budget mo, allocate mo na lang for repairs.

Yes boss, the green one was owned by a military man and now a professor ... I ask him for an additional pictures of the unit .. he gave me clear pictures of the unit, which means he's confident of his cars condition ..

Gli ba o xe, xl? Kung gli yun, swerte ng nakabili..

1.6 GLI bro. All power.. With ALTIS stock mags. Silver in color. May mga scratches pero no major dents, buo pa ang kaha.. latang lata/sariwa. When it was sold in October 2014, all tires (including reserved) are newly-replaced (in May 2014); with new 4SM motolite enduro battery; newly fixed aircon, brand new evaporator, alternator, exhaust fan.. with seat cover.. pioneer head unit.. duck tail spoiler.. etc.

Can you give me pointers on how to check those you mentioned one by one ???

Checking for oil leaks : Checking for oil leaks | How a Car Works

Also check for water leaks. It means either sira na ang hose o pasira na ang water pump.

Electricals :
a) Using a tester, check the electrical output sa battery while engine is turned-off and while running.
b) check all lights, wipers, radio
c) check condition of power windows, central locks, etc.
d) check condition of engine bay wires and high tension wires.

Aircon:
a) Have the car idle for a while with aircon off. Cabin should be cool enough, depending on the thermostat setting.
b) Rev up the engine while A/C is on, dapat hindi nagbabago ang buga ng hangin.
c) Check for sounds coming from the engine while AC is on.

Suspension:

a) Check for sounds while driving
b) Silipin ang CV boot
c) Turn the steering wheel while stopped. Dapat walang sound.
d) Drive the car and feel every sound that comes from underneath.
e) Dalahin mo sa lubak lubak na daan and sa may mga humps to check for shocks condition. Pag may bounce, sira na ang shocks.
f) Silipin mo condition ng joints and bushings kung kaya mo.
g) Kung kakayanin, try mo ihataw oto ng hanggang 90 kph to check for faulty axle bearings.


Radiator

Turn the engine off and cool it down for around 15-20 minutes, then open the radiator cap. Inspect the radiator cap and check the condition dun sa nguso. Dapat walang libag o langis. Pure coolant lang dapat makikita mo.

Check condition ng coolant sa reservoir.

Temperature

Observe the temperature gauge while idling, without AC, with AC and while driving....

Others:

a) check sound while idling baka butas na ang exhaust system.
b) check idling kung erratic... baka sira na o madumi ang throttle body.
c) check for engine bay squeaks baka palitin na ang mga belts.
d) get maintenance record if available.... things to look for are timing belt replacement, water pump replacement
e) rev it and see if there is smoke coming from the tail pipe.
f) check to see if there is smoke coming out of the tail pipe while idling.
g) check condition of tires
h) check condition of flooring baka nabubulok na. mas maganda kung masilip mo yung ilalim.

Madami pang checks dyan that I really cannot enumerate here. Kung bagito ka lang, try to bring a friend who knows about cars or a trusted mechanic.
