    Sa Patrol ako.

Absolutely ZERO sense in buying an LC80. Kahit sabihing sariwa pa, sobrang bare-bones ng mga local versions. Kahit mga local na LC100 pa... absolutely zero basic luxury features, and that's outrageous at the prices they sell for.

Kahit sabihing Land Cruiser pa yan, legend din ang Patrol. Heritage? Patrol has that in spades too. Off-road capability? Patrol is in the same league as a Cruiser and Defender. Toughness? Patrols are at least as tough as Cruisers. Engine? LC80 has a big 6, yes, but the ZD30 in the Patrol is more economical and more practical (servicing the engine is a plus for the LC80 though).

Only LC80 I'd even consider are loaded Dubai or US units. Even then, it's tough to plunk down a thick wad of cash for an old, worn LC80.

For my 1 million bucks, make mine a Patrol.

kaya nag-lipana ung converted JDM LC80s...less than a million mga un...plus the repair...up to 1M din bagsak..pero mas sulit...

i have nothing against sa patrol, actually i like them both....if head-to-head, patrol wins sa amenities at the same price...first cost palang malayo na difference:

brand new LC cost somewhere 3 million(not so bare) to 7 million VX_limited models..being the lx470(LC cygnus) cost somewhere the upper 6M mark, and most LC are from individual importers, alam ko mga 4-5 years ago, toyota makati offers individual import ng lc100 VX turbo diesel(low-end LC) at 3-5 million....beyond the 5M mark, pwede na ung vx_limited na V8...

e ang patrol, mga 2.5M lang ata, fully loaded na, may full dealer warranty ka pa..alam ko kasama na alarm, TV/DVD dun..and 4wd na din!

agree, 10 years old na ganun pa ka-mahal? kahit anong car basta umabot ng ganun katagal, you have to start worrying kung anu-ano mga kelangan mo i-replace... unless, they have already been taken care of, but very few people will do that especially kung ibebenta na nila yung car...

Unless may balak kang ipamana sa apo mo yung sasakyan or you buy vehicles as investments, the LC80 does not make sense.

Basic model ang mga local LC. No fancy suspensions, no fancy gadgets. Heck, even the headlamps are generic rectangular ones.

If you plan to use the vehicle hard, the newer, fresher, more comfy Patrol might be the one for you.

If you will regularly use the vehicle for demanding runs, kahit anong sasakyan iyan, malalaspag pa din. By investment, I mean hindi mo siya gagawing pang-araw araw. Tipong Sunday car na lang.

local LC, kahit ung bago-bagong LC100 basta local, expect the most basic trim...VX..

tsaka di ka madaling makakakita ng models na na may ganito...kasi most importers din di nag-iimport ng units beyond the 3-5M up...e ung models na merong ganito, by-order basis, and in V8 gasoline from dubai. better ung dubai model: complete with dual fuel tank option..alam ko din may dual spare tire option...pero most dubai models are V8 or in line 6 - gas...most JDM are diesels, except for cygnus model(LX470)

JDM models na may skyhook-TEMS starts from VX_limited, up to VX_limited G-selection...including Cygnus models(Lexus LX470)

so far, masaya ko sa performance ng TEMS ng liteace ko...soft ride, but automatically turns hard when braking, conering hard....ung JDMS may alam ko may height adjuster pa!

and nga pala, since di ito common sa pinas kahit ako, nanalangin na di masira or magloko TEMS ko! computer controlled ito (toyota ELECTRONIC-MODULATED suspension) virtually walang makakatulong sayo pag nasira yan, at i-rerecomend nilang palitan nalang ng ordinaryong suspension yang ride mo...

stock LC80/70K mi. = Wala ka nang papalitan pa.

    2001 Patrol + 4wd kit + upgraded suspension + F/R Lockers = A lot of additional expenses.

    Hehehe. :D

btw... the influx of surplus LC80s has somewhat degraded its appeal (at least for me).

    True...

Th LC80 is a legend but i'd go with the earlier observations of OTEP. Unless a good priced, good condition unit falls on your lap, go looking for a 2002 and up Patrol m/t instead.

get the LC 80, ifs it really local i bet it hasnt been 4WDrivning at all. so take it.i mean my parents bout one wit almost 100,000 on the odometer, dat was 5 years ago.and its still running today, if u can only see how my dad drives that LC, i think toyota will be proud. and to think my parents live in papua new Guinea. we actually needed to use the LC80 for the purpose it was built.so from my exeperience wit the LC 80, i think its the best 4wd. but im pretty sure that LC ur talkinb bout hasnt evn crossed a river deeper than EDSA. heheh.
