ok guys i'm finally down to my last 2 choices. sorry if i've been bugging everyone all this time but buying a car was never easy what with all that money you're going to spend right? anyways these 2 are what i'm choosing between. the GV costs almost 100k more than the tribute but man the GV sure looks good! the tribute though is the more popular choice coz of reliability and power. tho some say the GV is the true CUV since it's 4x4 and built to withstand out of town trips and manila potholes. i'm really confused now so i'd appreciate if anybody could share their comments. was hoping to buy a unit this week or next at the latest. thanks a lot for your replies

mas mahal pa yun GV kaysa tribute? mag-tribute ka na lang and use the extra 100k for insurance.

mahal naman ng insurance na yon hehe but yeah it is more expensive. i've heard that the tribute daw is scheduled for a facelift end of this year. yun nga lang mejo malakas daw talaga sa gas yung GV. high octane rating kasi kailangan yata. damn. it's getting harder to decide. thanks for your replies. keep em coming!

hehehe mahal ba. 100k for insurance plus other hidden costs and expenses and add-ons. I find the tribute bigger than grand vitara. in fact I always mistook it as a mid-size suv whenever I see one on the road. since both these CUV's are more of the rare types (konti lang kalsada) I'd go for bigger and cheaper srp. ito din ata yun puwede ka kumain sa likod kasi may kainan ala economy class hehehe. aliw lang ako dun.

get the Vitara if you only need and use its 4WD capability. otherwise, that's 100K down the drain.

the Tribute has better specs (160hp 2.3L engine) and features (moonroof, steering-wheel audio controls, puddle lamps, etc.).

I haven't driven the new Vitara yet but my guestimate is that the Tribute will have better on-road characteristics (handling & suspension absorbency). plus it is manufactured here in the Philippines (for export to other ASEAN countries).

thanks guys, visited both showrooms again kanina. altho ang ganda talaga ng int/ext ng vitara mejo worried ako sa power ng engine since it's a 2.0l lang. my friend was telling me that if i am to get a cuv might as well go for the 3.0 para worth the power. the only thing stopping me from getting the tribute 3.0 are the looks and the possibility of its being phased out in a few months time. whatchathik? dugo pala ng car shopping no? thanks again!

They won't face out the Tribute, but it along with the Escape will be updated.

This is the facelifted 2007 (Asia-Pacific) Mazda Tribute, the RP version will most likely look similar to this.

looks-wise, medyo respectable naman ang itsura ng tribute. that is if you get the black or the beige/gold one (for me ha hehehe)

if there's one thing you should know about suzuki, they really jack up the price coz they know na hindi naman ganon kalakas ang demand ng suzuki vehicles dito. and in fact, they have limited supply nyan sa tingin ko. so with low demand and limited supply, their only recourse is to make it look expensive.

2.7L V6 GV not available in the Phils?

Though a bigger engine means more power, it also means higher fuel consumption. You'd have to take that into consideration.

Anyway, here's a thread where a guy bought a 2.0L GV. On the other hand, there are a lot of threads in the SUV forums on the Mazda Tribute/Ford Escape.

funny i always thought that vitaras depreciated more slowly than mazda. mahal pa rin kasi yung mga older vitara models eh. o baka mali lang ako. so suzuki parts are hard to come by? thanks for your input doofy

choose GV although the engine is on the weak side, the depreciation, and lack of parts and service, atleast you'll get a suv that is made in Japan so reliability is not that an issue.

No problem slyfox, about the depreciation thing you're right on that zuks depreciate slower or at least same with mazda, however zuks depreciate faster than the more popular brand such as honda crv and toyota rav4, sorry about that

As for parts it can be pretty hard to come by, because zuks are no that popular until now*, i would suggest that it is preferable to buy at your local suzuki dealer, I also bought my parts from the casa, even though i own a honda and parts are easy to come by especially in Banawe i still prefer to buy in the casa, expensive?- Yes, but parts are guaranteed to be genuine, i got a bad experience before in Banawe.

*I have seen many zuks in Manila especially the APV.

    Have a nice day
