IMHO the SUV offers more bang for the buck. Consider that the Jazz costs around 800-900k when new, while a mid or top variant SUV costs around twice as much. Then there is also fuel cost. Diesel is around P12/L cheaper than the cheapest unleaded gasoline. Rough calculations indicate that fuel cost of a diesel engine consuming 8km/L (assuming P31/L) in city driving is the same as a gasoline engine consuming 11km/L (assuming P43/L), and that's the fuel consumption of a typical 1.3L subcompact. Then of course we have the usual high ground clearance, sturdier underpinnings and bigger seating capacity. More respectable road presence is also a plus, something to consider if you happen to be someone who meets and/or ferries business clients/potential clients regularly. Cons would be higher maintenance cost due to larger volume of lubricants needed and expensive tire sizes.

In the end, the deciding factor would be which car would make you happier.
