The Forester has a better ride and the benefits of all-wheel drive (for moderate off-roading). It also looks better. But the CR-V is more practical at this price point.
I agree with this, the CRV is the better choice but the forester is just more fun to drive. Regarding speed naman, yes the CRV is also faster but you can barely feel the difference, any car naman In the same power range you'll barely feel the difference. If you run both cars side by side don mo lang makita kung ano talaga mas mabilis. Anyway cars like the CRV and forester 2.0 aren't made for speed naman. So it depends what you want or need. If you want a fun car to drive get the forester, if you want a practical car then get the CRV.

thanks again sa mga replies, maybe it's worth to wait the upcoming 2012 crv for further comparison

For me... the fun in driving a Forester is muted when you're driving the base model. It really needs the extra power of the turbo or at least a manual transmission mated to the base engine to really feel alive. Still... it's got more pogi points and is more comfortable than the base CR-V.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

The dual-range 5-speed manual transmission (then it becomes like 10-speed) would be better to manage its power in the base version. As far as automatic goes, a CVT such as the one used in the Legacy, would be a huge imrpovement over the current outdaded 4-speed one...

Yeah... kinda puzzling when the local base Impreza, which has the ground clearance of a skateboard, has the dual range box, but the local Forester doesn't.

Not just to the ground clearance, but the low-range would also increase its off-road capabilities...

I remember the 1st-gen Forester had the dual-range setup, even with automatic transmission...

3rd gen crv 2.0 modulo vs forester 2.0
