Not really sure what's the diff cost in maintenance of a diesel vs gas.
I suppose it's just the liters of oil used, right?
And diesel has no spark plugs (but that's just around 500 pesos to replace)

June 20th, 2020 02:59 PM #104i always say to whoever wants to listen,
the diesel is more economical to maintain. mas mura na ang fuel, more km/li pa. only the oil is more expensive per change, and that is countered by the cheaper fuel expense for the interval.
some counter, "mahal ang piyesa pag nasira."
i counter-counter, "that's just it. in 15 years and over 130K km, aside from the belts, my diesel engine has not had anything, that needed replacement."
someone already made computations here, vis a vis the break-even figures, between diesel-engined and gas-engined vehicles.
there is, however, one dis-advantage of the diesel engine over the gas engine: it spews out more pollution.Last edited by dr. d; June 20th, 2020 at 03:36 PM.

If high milage user ka ( >20000km/ yr), then may advantage yung diesel. For lower milage user,
then you can opt sa gas or gas with lower displacement <2.0.
Sa maintenance yung lub oil at gulong, pero you have several options naman doon.
It depends naman how you maintain para even in long years of service ng sasakyan still it runs well.
(from my personal experience of 2.0 gas SUV, 2.2D SUV, at 2.4D Monty gls 2017).
Siguro it will boil down kung si Wifey o ikaw mag de decide..
