Mas safe yun kesa sa public transport and motorcycle.

On Repossed cars - as is condition yun.

May mga kilala akong nakabili from BPI and halos aircon and battery lang pinagawa/pinalitan nila.

Both cars are fairly new, since manual naman ata tinitignan mo... aside from the regular stuff na masisira and sira na, I'm sure di ganun kahirap ayusin yan.

Just a suggestion... Body and interior is very important. Yung suspension and engine pwede mong pagawa later.
Yung interior and body nya looks good naman, fresh na fresh pa and mukang brand new pa naman.

Bayan seller kasi yung kukuhaan ko (Mars Autopick) and I ask him if may casa record yung unit, hindi daw nya alam or hindi pa nya nakita. Something like that.

pero as I said, madami din naman maayos.

At 200-250k more than 10 year old Toyota/Honda ang makikita mo.

For a 2 year old car, basta umaandar, may AC and tumitigil kapag nag brakes ka... why not? unti unting lalabas problema nya and unti unti mo na lang ayusin.

Kung sakali bang 2nd hand unit yung makuha ko, dapat ba malaki yung budget ko for upcoming issues na pwede ko maencounter as time goes by para sa 2 years old car? How about maintenance? Can you give me some idea para mapaghandaan.

    As a general rule.
Pag second hand, avoid hulugan. Bakit? Taas amort mo.

Since ang tininitingnan mong unit is mga small cars, my guestimation would be around 50k na spare.

Things to do after mo makuha. Change all fluids and filters kahit pa sinabi ma bagong palit. Well, kung may receipt naman to back it up (galing sa reputable shops) i guess kahit di lahat palitan.

Next to go normally is suspension (shocks).
Next is gulong since may 5 to 6 yrs lang ang lifespan ng mga gulong.
And so on until magsawa ka... Heheheh

Sa 50k po ba is lahat na? O isang part lang ng unit?

Make sense.

Tumitingin din ako ng brand new na Celerio, someone quoted me with 130k dp (30%) and 9.8k monthly amo for M/T variant.

Depende sa ipapagawa. Yang 50k na yan can be anything.

Kahit naman sa bnew, kelangan may budget ka pang maintenance sa casa kahit up to 10Tkm lang just to be safe para makita mo kung may pwede iwarranty.

Wants vs needs.

Malaking responsibility pala talaga when owning a car. Mukang mas kailangan ko pa ng time to think. Anyways, thanks sa mga insight sir. Really help a lot!

IMO... Kung kaya mo na bumili ng car and ok naman syo and sa wife mo yung tinigtignan ninyo...

    1. May garage ka ba? not only for coding days... pero for those days na 2 days or more na sira yung car at wala kang time pagawa. And may parking ka ba sa office?

    2. Small repairs, maganda matuto kang gumawa kahit konti (pero not required)

    3. Small car tinitignan mo, alamin mo limitations ng small car.

First car ko in college was the box type. Ilang beses pinilit sa akin ng dad ko yung isang Corolla (small body namin) pero siguro bata pa ako noon and naiilang ako since Corolla/Pride mga taxi namin - hanggang ngayon natatawa ako na pinanindigan ko yung 82 box type vs 91 Corolla.

Target mo for a used car is hindi ka ititirik, titigil pag tapak mo sa brakes and may A/C. Yung ibang naiisip mo (since limited budget) itabi mo muna.

Kapag mauna yung baby... malamang madelay yung car purchase mo.
