It's only when you solely depend on the casa for parts and repairs that you will really feel the pain. This at least is my experience with the Starex, Elantra and Accent - granted that these are popular volume sellers. The situation may be different regarding other low-volume models because every now and then I still hear that parts are difficult to find.
    another thing.
not every car owner lives and drives in manila.

No they are not yet on par with Japanese cars in terms of reliability and durability.

Dami ko kilala na hindi nagandahan sa maintenance ng korean cars nila.

Give it a test drive and compare against the likes of the BRV or Vitara. If performance is a key concern, forget the Rush and get the XV or even something more performance-oriented.

yup I'll do that, but I'm no good in comparing MV by test drive alone. I've driven, 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6 sedans, but I can't tell the difference right away.

How spirited are you in driving a car? Most small cars with small displacement naturally-aspirated engines will be similar in performance. You can pinch a bit more from them if you drive them at their torque and power limits (4000 to 6000 rpm). However, some cars offer better natural grip thus giving them the ability to handle better when driven hard.

For the Rush, with its big body and so-so 1.5L NA engine, it will perform poorer against the like of Vios or City. If you are to test drive a car, be sure to test how it responds to throttle input, how the car responds to steering input, and give it a try to push the tachometer to mid to high rpms.

Wear seat belt as you drive. I'm pretty sure you'll not hit the air bag when you drastically floor the break.
