1.nissan sentra gs, gx or gsx
    2.mazda 3 2004-2008 model
    3.toyota corolla altis 2004-2008 model

Here are the issues i have heard from friends and mechanic. Totoo po ba?

1.nissan- "mahal piyesa, mahina pang ilalim"
2.mazda 3 - "mahal piyesa, lakas sa gas, mahirap hanapin piyesa"
3.toyota corolla altis -" di pa pasok sa budget mo"

    i used to have a 97 sentra. i have a 2003 altis.

it's true. altis parts in general, are easier to find. cheaper, too. probably because there are more of them on the road.
but we don't have our cars fixed every weekend. paminsan-minsan lang.
i have no parts problem when i have my altis repaired in banawe.
time and again, i see lancers and sentras taking a bit more time, as the mekaniko takes a bit more time, looking for their parts.

    fuel appetite.
    altis might have an edge.
but much of it will probably depend on one's right foot and one's wallet's capability.
the MT variant will give more km/li than the equivalent AT model.

    riding comfort.
    test-drive the cars, po.
sentra is known for being a "kotse ng babae" dahil malambot daw ang manibela at pidal. personally, i find these an advantage.
but this is subjective on the individual person. try the cars out for size. biggie persons might prefer one over the other.

for some reason, the altises seem to command a higher price than the sentras.
there are also more altises in the for-sale ads than sentras.

    bottom line.
altises are probably easier to maintain than sentras, even as the initial acquisition price is higher.
but these are old cars. expect significant additional expenses in fixing them up.

    mazda?
i have no experience with the brand.

    and oh!
    "beware the ex-taxi!"
i once asked, what car is immune from being an ex-taxi or a service vehicle.
    the answer: "get a two-door".
    heh heh.

Check maintenance history and car condition. Stay away from modded cars (sakit sa ulo lang iba nyan).

Kahit gaano pa katibay yang kotse tapos buraot mag-alaga yung owner, sure yan dami sira yan. Also, as much as some would say “lady-owned” but I would think twice. Most ladies know nothing about car maintenance.

The best 2nd hand cars are those with a list of the history of service including PMS, accompanied with receipts. Pero napaka rare ng ganoong seller.

    well,
i have my duly-filled-up pms booklet.
but i have no idea where i threw the resibos...

i like cars from owners who are selling them because their new car is arriving soon, and their garage is tight.

I have everything filed including receipts for what I replaced (tires, batteries etc) Baka sabihin low mileage at inurong odometer, I have all the receipts to prove otherwise.

Not yet hehe. It helped a lot when I made my warranty appeal for my 11th gen. They asked for a photocopy of all my PMS receipts (I had my car serviced in 2 casas kasi)

These are the best IMO. I would pay the asking price if the owner has these.
