Hello! Pa-hijack na rin po ng post.

Newbie here and I’m planning to get my first car. Can I get some suggestions and advice as well?

Budget is around 200-250k para may ma-allot pa akong 50k for repairs and extras. Hopefully, makahanap ako before Christmas para makabyahe na ako and spend Christmas with my fam. Ang hirap na rin kasi ng walang sasakyan because if this pandemic (new normal).

Initially, I’d like to get a sedan like a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze or a Ford Fiesta just because mura yung resell value nila. But then, I read that these cars has a lot of issues with their tranny. Thoughts?

Should I just get an older car like a 2008 Honda City IDSI or a Mazda 3?

2008 City i-Dsi na CVT or MT? if hindi kasi inalagaan ng current/previous owner yung CVTF change intervals, malamang (likely but not 100%certain) may sira na yung tranny ng CVT (shuddering may be present). But kung MT yan, wala akong nakikitang problema sa i-Dsi na City. We still have ours (CVT) with no real issues. I drive it sometimes. Though ngayon di na talaga siya pwede sa 91RON, kelangan at least 95RON. So may slight additional cost on fuel expense, but matipid naman itong i-Dsi talaga so it doesn't matter much, plus Snr-Unioil Discount and Credit Card gas discount, mas mura naman per liter ko kahit sa third party na gas station. Unioil West Avenue being my go to gas station as the cheapest gasoline I get anywhere in MetroManila without it being illegal. hehe!

Good luck in your hunt. Not sure if may option ka nakikita na Altis near that generation. Kasi yung altis, if similar year, alam ko magkalapit lang resale value niya sa City and Vios. May slight premium lang, but because perception is mas "matakaw" nagtapat yung resale niya with the subcompact category. Just my recollection but I haven't checked the market in quite a while.

Actually kung trip mo ang Nissan Almera, may mga nakikita ako mga 2013 model na nagbebenta for 200+k. It is still a current model so parts will not be a problem. 1.5 engine din so mas mahatak kesa sa mga 1.3 na City or Vios na mabibili mo at this price na mas luma pa.

If hindi ka nagmamadali consider mo yung mazda3 na nabili ko dahil sa thread na to.
Walang hidden issue bawal lang sa maselan dahil need repaint.
Nag iipon pa ako for upgrade mga 3rd week ng november out ko na to.

Hingi naman po ako tips sa inyo kung sino pwedeng manalo for choices

1.nissan sentra gs, gx or gsx
2.mazda 3 2004-2008 model
3.toyota corolla altis 2004-2008 model

Here are the issues i have heard from friends and mechanic. Totoo po ba?

1.nissan- "mahal piyesa, mahina pang ilalim"
2.mazda 3 - "mahal piyesa, lakas sa gas, mahirap hanapin piyesa"
3.toyota corolla altis -" di pa pasok sa budget mo"

Opinion ko lang sa mga kasabihan na “mahal ang piyesa o mahirap hanapan”.

Sa totoo lang almost inapplicable na yung mahirap ang piyesa ngayon. I have a Ford Focus, dami dito nagsasabi mahirap daw hanapan ng piyesa at mahal pa. Dumating ang panahon, kinailangan ko na hanapan, madami naman pala nag bebenta sa car club sa facebook, orig na, mura pa. Kahit gaano ka random at liit ng part, meron sila.

In short, sa parts walang problema na. Ang dami ng sources. Ang poproblemahin mo na lang kung may alam ba kayo na marunong gumawa malapit sa inyo.

Why not give us your wants? Mahirap if puro issue lang... lahat naman meron issue, si kags lang wala... hahaha!

Looks-mazda 3 look for 2.0 model...

Interior Space - sentra

Ease of maintenance (parts, know how and etc) - it’s corolla among the 3 but im not saying mahirap yung 2... lamang lang talaga si toyota.

Fuel consumption-???

Overall i will choose mazda 3 2.0 model... just join the mazdatech community, a lot of them can help you source those surplus and original mazdaspeed parts...
