    here's how i computed it

    Assumptions:
    12T Km per year
    Php52/L gasoline
    Php43/L gasoline

    12KPL Accent HB
    10KPL Mirage

Annual fuel cost for Accent HB
    12,000/12*43 = Php43,000 per year

    Annual fuel cost for Mirage
    12,000/10*52 = Php64,200 per year

    Annual fuel cost difference
    Php19,400

    Years to recover price difference
    320,00/19,400 = 16.49484536

With whatever computation (I did say my computation isn't accurate but enough to show my point) to see any benefit from the Accent's CRDi engine vs the Mirage 1.2L CVT, it would still take over ten years of driving the car.

    taking a different view..
the fuel efficiency of the diesels is not my reason for favoring them.
i favor diesels because of their relative water resistance. bahain samin, e.
the fuel savings is a bonus.
    my 88 centavos' worth..

BTW, modern diesels still have electronics. Get them wet and it still stalls.

BTT the topic is "Most fuel efficient sub compact automatic"...

My answer include the whole cost of buying and fueling the car, hence the answer is the MIRAGE is the better choice.

The computation that factors in the price of the car would be total cost of ownership. If TS is only interested in the fuel economy then he just need the real world km/liter reading of the car. But total cost of ownership is the more logical way to look at costs savings.

To make the total cost of ownership more accurate you'll have to factor in also the maintenance costs. Like in Hyundai forum they said you have to go for maintenance every 3 months or they will void the warranty, hence you have a quarterly recurring expense.

My Accent in Heavy Traffic averages from 10-11km/L.. Base on manual full tanks

When i say Heavy traffic it's 1 1/2 Hr of travel

    When it's not traffic, it's 15-20 minutes..

    6. mas mataas ang insurance ng accent. malaking bagay ito lalo na kung 5 years to pay .

question... just what is warrantied for 5 years, by hyundai? is it to include everything except the "wear and tear" items?
so what is the #5 above, all about? they actually deny warranty for the more expensive parts? isn't that partially digested grass?
