For a CUV, I would recommend either a CX5 (friend owns one) or the Xtrail TOTL as alternatives if you are looking at the CRV.
For the SUV side, the Montero still has the tightest turning radius so in terms of weaving in and out of traffic, it is the easiest to maneuver for me. It feels the shortest of the bunch to handle. =)
Compact CUV, since Juke is out of the Question, the BRV technically has better interior space compared to the Juke. It's actually tight when you have 6ft tall passengers in the 2nd row. So I personally would not recommend the Juke to haul a family of 4 if the kids are teenagers already. Or you are planning to drive your parents around.
Wagon Type - Maybe the Toyota Rush. Practically an Avanza but has "better" looks. Engine has the same 1.5 Engine in the Vios and Avanza. You'd have the kid booster seats in the back for additional 2 seats during an emergency trip but not for long haul. If you want something with more legroom enough for all three rows, the Mobilio and Expander actually have better legroom. I haven't managed to test drive the Expander (just sat in the display unit in MMPC.. hehe!), but I have heard good things about the Mobilio being driven up Tagaytay at least and it didn't struggle even when fully loaded.
I don't have recommendation from Peugeot or Volkswagen since I've never really looked at them because of the price premium of being imported here while not through an ASEAN channel for the tax discounts. hehe!
Good luck in shopping. =)

The Mazda CX-5 is nice if you are the type that wants to tackle corners frequently ... But for a daily driver, the Honda CR-V is a much better vehicle ... It will be easier to maintain in the long run, more parts, better dealer network ... Plus remember that the Mazda CX-5 needs that special, expensive battery for it's i-Stop ... Have they removed the i-Stop for the Mazda CX-5 yet? ... The 2018 Mazda CX-3 does not have i-Stop anymore ...

August 2nd, 2018 11:34 AM #40Thank you everyone for the replies! I'll look into all your suggestions.
As for the budget, I'd like to stick to the 1M to 1.8M range. If I can get something at a lower price, then that'd be great too! :D
p.s. Are any of you familiar with hybrids? I'm interested in the idea but not really willing to spend more than my budget. Lol. I know the Prius is already out of my range, so that's definitely out of the question.
Puwede i try, 1. Palit air filter 2. Linis throttle body 3. Linis MAF sensor 4. Check spark...
high idle RPM at engine start
