AFAIK, it's not a personal preference but a statement that you generally get better interior materials, insulation, more engine power, and a better suspension with a Civic-Corolla-MZ3 versus a City-Vios-MZ2.

Personally, i would always pay for a low-end Altis over a high-end Vios (whose pricing will be quite near). That's the preference

From a Toyota to a Ford?

Baka mahulog ka sa inu-upuan mo if you compare the cost of ownership.

I hear Mitsubishi is "still" trying to move out the last models of the previous Montero Sport. Attractive discounts.

He said he never liked how the city drives. That is clearly personal preference sir.

How a car drives is really more of personal preference and this is the reason you need to do a test drive before buying a car.

Regarding the finish and materials used for the different category of cars, there is a reason why a higher category vehicle is more expensive. This is the reason why an Accord is more expensive than a Civic, and why the Civic is more expensive than a City. The same logic applies to a Camry-Altis-Vios, Mazda6-Mazda3-Mazda2, or Fusion-Focus-Fiesta. Even the European manufactures have the same marketing scheme. A BMW 3-series will never be comparable to a BMW 5-series. If you have the means to buy, you go for the best that money can buy with your budget unless you have other priorities.

Our family had a City 1.5E (2009) before and it has served us well. It was used primarily to shuttle people around. It had a big trunk, sits comfortably for a small car, and fuel efficient. However, I never liked how it drives. The steering is not responsive, the suspension feels crashy, and has slow acceleration. The Jazz offers better natural grip even though they share a similar platform. The Civic FD of the same era is a much better car.

I see; I was actually pertaining to the first portion of his statement above; seems we were looking at different parts of the statement.

Test drive and take a close look at your choices. We've had the Civic, Jazz, City, Altis and Vios at one point or another and definitely you will see the difference when you take enough time on the wheel and decide based on what your priorities are.

Check if there are any pre-facelift Subaru XVs in the dealers, those used to go at 200k off so that would be p1.1m.

As of 2 weeks ago, Motor Image only has remaining stocks of the Levorg and Legacy 3.6L with discounted prices. It's 200k discount on the Levorg and 300k discount on the Legacy 3.6L.

Many times ko na nadinig yang "bakit hindi ka pa nag compact / altis when I bought my car actually until now.

    Now:

Altis G AT is 949K (no idea on the discount)

Vios G is around 880K (no idea on the discounts)

If I will buy now siguro I'd get the Altis G AT na since nasa 908K na pala ang VX WTF! (Less 10k discount pa so that would be 898K nung time kasi na bumili kami nakuha ko ng 860K. Laki ng tinalon ng price.

That time kasi I will never settle unless its the VX we will be getting.

We started sa wigo to vios to City.

Not a speedfreak and sa traffic sa manila it can give enough ample punch when you need it.

Still no regrets, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Masaya naman ako and satisfied on what it can give us.

Nakapili na ba si TS ng kotse nya? I do hope he can update us on his choice.

For something like 1M, the best option I have encountered is a VW Jetta 1.6TDI DSG. We got it though thru a corporate discount. It will take over the family hauler chores of the old City 1.5L.

If VW decides to sell the same model to the public with the same discount, I am sure they will get some serious sales figures on it. The quality of the build and finish is better than other compacts in the market. Another plus is that it comes with a turbo diesel engine.
